Like what I’ve heard from this amp so far. Parallel SE with three EL 34 per side giving 35w/ch.

I miss having a valve amp in my life. My main system is sorted so no room there, but I’d like NA other Audion at some point, or maybe something I’ve never had before. Have you heard any of the amps by Icon Audio? S.

Been tearing my hair out today dealing with electricians and the supply company.
I have a faulty trip box and the supply company say it is after the meter so nothing to do with them. Contacted the supplier (Bulb) who couldn't be bothered to reply to an email I sent on the 17th August so they are worse than useless. After much faffing about I managed to get hold of an electrician who says I need to get hold of Western Power or Bulb to isolate the supply so he can fit a new trip. WPD want £170 + VAT to fit an isolator switch so the electrician can fit either a trip or an isolator switch fer cryin out loud.
Gone are the days when you called your local electricity board who sent out one man who could isolate the supply, carry out the work, reconnect the supply and you could pay a ewasonable amount in instalments on your leccy bill each month if you wished. This latest scheme is for bleeding you white.
And chill . . . . . . . . .

Is there anyone who thinks water and power should be private enterprises?
(except the people making a bomb off of it ofc).
Telecommunications fair enough as when it was a BT monopoly they were a rip off and slow and incompetent to boot. And They still are but we don't have to use them anymore. But water and power don't seem to have improved at all. Worse if anything.

Not so bothered about energy, but wouldn’t complain.

I don’t think anything that is a utility or a monopoly should be private. If there is no real choice it just means there’s now a profit motive to keep investment low to maximise shareholder payouts. The gas and electric are a case in point. All you can actually choose is who bills you, it’s the same power or gas down the same wire or pipes whichever supplier only now instead of the money going on maintaining the infrastructure it goes to shareholders and CEOs

Virgin do cable straight to my house.
With telephones there are 3 mobile networks and a load of virtual ones so I'd regard that as proper competition. Residential landlines are becoming history, surely?
Railways I'm not so bothered about. I don't see the sense in having them as private concerns, I read once that no-one has ever run a railroad at a profit for any length of time. I don't think they are any worse now than when it was British Rail, but then I don't live in the South East where they seem to have a lot of issues.

Without virgin you still need a landline to your house for broadband even if you don’t have a phone attached.

I'm in the South East and have refused to use public transport for generations. I stick to driving everywhere. The tube and buses were disorganised and full of scumbag passengers forty years ago. It can only have got worse.

I think it's time to make some vibrations on the old fuzzy warble box. Y'know ... vibrations. What music is made of. As opposed to 1's and 0's imitating it. No you just got a stylus tramming thru a modulated groove imitating music instead.

Quite frankly I find vinyl retentive's to be as pretentious, perhaps even more so than say for example, progressive rock, and Hendrix fans. I feel the look at me factor also plays a big part. Look how intellectual I am, look at my expensive record player, look how much my arm cost me to modify, just so I could get the spinner it to sound as good as a budget CDP, look at my MC cartridge, it cost so much it has sent me down a rabbit hole looking for the holy grail and more magic mushrooms, and please do not forget to notice my fine collection of obscure punk and rock records.

Fitted a new set of Genalex KT 77 to the amp last night. All is now well, no blown fuses- We have far too few pics of glowing valves. I will definitely get another valve amp and set it up for regular use somewhere. The only times I’ve ever lisetened to music at night has been with valve amps., That how is an absolute joy.

Aye there’s something good about having some valves glowing in a dim room.

Woke up at bloody 2.30 a.m. again, had a cup of tea with lemon and honey, and a cheese sandwich. Gave the dog half the cheese, his eyes were drilling holes in my skull again. Stayed up played on the pooter till 4, went back to sleep, woke at 8, dragged my heels and was only dressed and showered by 11.30. Was planing to clean the place today, sod it tomorrow will do. The joys of retirement I answer to no one.
