Oh? Sounds weird to ask, but ..... Is it ok? I mean, obviously it isn't....but nothing major I hope I had a Hydrocele around 20 years ago and all it usually takes us a small incision in the scrotum to drain the fluid. My surgeon decided to take a more drastic route with an incision across the width of my groin and turned my entire family jewels inside out to check for cancer. When I woke up after the anaesthetic had worn off it felt like a herd of horses had stampeded across me. The whole lot swelled up to a huge size and was as black as coal. Every movement made the pain worse and it took me a whole hour just to put my trousers on to go for a smoke out in the chapel garden of the hospital. I decided to go home so at least I didn't have that palaver every time I wanted a smoke. Took two weeks for it all to go back to normal.
Gosh! yikes! hope you're better soon and all goes well.

Today my daughter gave me her Arcam amplifier which she no longer has any use for. I thought it was an A65, turns out to be an A75 (I'll have to look up what the difference is). I've swapped out my Amptastic Mini One to try the Arcam into my Celestion 5s, not expecting much improvement. I was wrong, it sounds great! Maybe the speakers are enjoying the extra oomph, anyway the Arcam is here to stay, as it has received the all-important WAF from Mrs. Pony.
The Amptastic will stay as a standby amp though - I had it switched on 24/7 for 5 years with no issues, but I'm not sure if the Arcam will be as happy with that arrangement. I'll see how long it keeps going.

arranged a cavity wall survey finally after trying for months to get one
running round trying to persuade a nice person to put UPVC cladding tiles over some leaking ones in a bathroom ... some booked up till june and dont want a relatively small job like that . they just want a full bathroom installation

Well after 4 months the BMC DAC is back wih it's present owner and untouched by BMC. It has been sat in a warehouse in Germany supoosedly awaiting release by German Customs due to "staff shortages". If only the owner used his loaf and put on the customs declaration that is was only for repair with a zero value it may have not been such a protracted ordeal. BMC could have done somethng to persuade customs that was the case but they couldn't be bothered. I tried to gee them along but all I got was abusive and curt replies in return.
I was all for Brexit but there are obvious drawbacks to that move.

The buyer wanted the USB connection so I advised him to send it to BMC to get it fixed.

If it wasn't they would have won WW2 The Yanks and Soviets were efficient, the British were the innovators, the Germans were a mess. Good engineers though I give them that.

If I was younger I probably would have jumped at it, as it was I didn't even apply for it but they called me in for a 'chat' about it so might end up doing it anyway. Alternative is they hire someone externally which is pot luck, they might hire some right arse who will start breaking my balls. No idea what to do truth be told.

On a serious note, if they offer it to you, you're less likely to get some rando coming in and upsetting the workplace. Might be worth it just for that reason.

Yes, plus the job is hugely complicated with a million problems so anyone new will take 6 months to get up to speed, so I'd be doing it all myself for at least that long anyway... There's no possible outcome that suits me, basically. I suppose worse things happen at sea.

Yeah, generally hate when that happens (unless thyeve been a complete nightmare of course). My line manager has just left, and has always left me alone to do my job. The new manager is here now and its scrutiny and has asked to be invited to the meetings I look after, to sit in on them and get a handle on what they're about and what I do.

Suppose if he is new it is understandable he wants to get a handle on what is going on. It's when they start telling you what you should be doing when they still know sweet FA about anything that gets me.

I've only just got over that hump at this place, don't think I could take having to do that all over again.
