Lovely. I was there back in 2000 just up the coast a bit in Santa Monica.
Anywhere I went in L.A it either smelled of the beach or of meat being char-grilled.

Today I am about to run a length of speaker wire from my a/v amp to one of the rear surround speakers. To replace the cable I had running under the carpet for 6 metres. We had new carpets last week and one of the shaved monkeys fitting it appear to have cut through the cable. When I tested the speaker with a short length of cable to the amp everything's fine, so that must be what they've done. Running the new wire under the carpet is no longer possible, so I'll have to replace it with wire running the entire perimeter of the dining room and lounge. A distance of 25 metres no less. Oh well, the speaker is next to where Mrs. P sits, so I'm not that fussed what it sounds like, as long as there is some sound. She wants to watch Jurassic Park Dominion later, and wants the big sound. So I'll just have a quick brew and some biscuits, then get to it

about to drive to see friend today only to discover swmbo blocked the drive with her car and gone out ! caught a taxi . surprised to see a crashmat by the bed but apparently he rolled out of bed last night !! probably trying to escape
Amazing place with parrots doing wolf whistles in the garden .. superb for the little zoo . apparently they used to have a bus stop in the garden for a resident who always picked up the kids at 3pm . when it never arrived the carer said we will catch the next one and she was happy then !! ah the joys of getting old
then had a fairly long but pleasant walk home

That it is Alan - tbh, I find the whole surround sound malarky a pain. Just too many wires. Over there we've got TV, Sky Q, Sky broadband, Hive, A/V amp, Blu Ray player, and all the mains leads, interconnects and speaker wires that go with it. I'm just glad the hifi is completely separate from all that nonsense. I could happily live with just the telly there, but Anita likes her dinosaurs to sound big... Anyway, it's all working now, so my tried and tested method of sticking wires in holes and pressing buttons until I get sound has worked out ok. Daft thing is, if I crank up the volume to 'home cinema' levels, she'll be "Ooh, that's too loud, I can't hear myself think!" But if I'm to have a hope of getting new speakers this year I need to keep building up these brownie points

Today is Bob Marley's birthday, he'd have been 78.
My first, number one and forever music hero. Much more than a singer musician - Legend in the true sense of the word.

Loved his football too, and apparently he was a very good player, could have turned professional. I think I read somewhere that him and Johnny Nash liked a good kickabout.

Yep, football came a close second to his music by all accounts and an excellent footballer, always got a team together of musicians, roadies, locals etc where ever he went.

Or London as it's called now.

Supposed to be going down there in March. Got free entry to cabinet war rooms and HMS 'Belfast'. Been on 'Belfast' before but it was about 45 years ago and don't recall it really.
Also going to see Terry McCann's flat and some other 'Minder' locations. And see if I can get a decent steak and a cigar.

Spent most of the day on eBay trawling through cars, initially in the £2.5k - £3.5k bracket as thought it sensible when mum said she'd lend me the wedge (as long as it's not too much). We'll it appears I got her expectations wrong, she rang about 3 on another matter so asked her what number of ££s was, not to much in her mind. She said oh I guess £6k - £7k, just get something decent that will last, so went back to my watch list and deleted it all. Had to start again trawling through 2016+ cars in the Peugeot 108 - 208 size range (don't want anything bigger) that are available within 30 miles.

Forgot to say yesterday but went for my first bike ride of the year Now, just been playing around with a borrowed preamp. Very nice! Superb engine, and handling sharper than a sharp thing that's just been sharpened You're a tougher man than me, mine will stay in the garage till March/April. I don't like being cold. I don't know how to post pics, so can't put mine on here. But it's this FireBlade in this colour.

Did they not offer a mother-in-law, four kiddies and a giant pack of toilet rolls for that authentic Indian riding experience? I must say you do cut a dashing figure Steve, a bit like Martin Kemp

We lived in Mumbai for 5 years, so this place was a bit of a refuge. Some friends turned up whilst we were staying and loaned me this technological marvel. (It had electric start). Blatting through the villages in the countryside was wonderful… but if I’d tried it in the city my life expectancy would have been about 5 minutes. Then again I don’t think the bike went for much more than 5 minutes before breaking down. Kharma
