I think the trick with checkouts is to be good at assessing the competence of the people ahead of you.
Surprisingly pensioners are a good one to get behind as long as they are not too doddery. They pack efficiently and have the money and the reward card ready. If it's a husband and wife pensioner team that's even better.
Had to walk out of the corner shop the other day as the queue was ridiculous. Ten people waiting. Bloke on the till is so slow you can barely perceive him moving. I mean you would need a stop motion camera. He served a few people and we edged forward a bit and I started to get hopeful.
Then gets to these two young birds who were in their pyjamas and dressing gowns. They're together but of course they have to pay separately. The first one doesn't have enough money so the other one offers to put the difference on her card. That takes forever.
Then it's her turn. Naturally she wants scratch cards, but can't make up her mind which ones. After she changed her mind for the third time I put my shopping back on the shelf and walked out.

Met with removals guy to choose stuff for family member to downsize .she chose about 80% of the furniture which will require delicate negotiation to reduce .
Went to bank who were lovely but I had to laugh when they quizzed this ancient pensioner about scams on fb and was she succumbing to romance fraud !!!! My my they really do take things seriously as they should

cleaned the bathroom and kitchen, that's my good deed for the day.
Had a glass of blood orange with breakfast. Lovely. I'd drink the whole carton in one go but it would make me bad.
Got a steak to fry up later on might have another glass of it with that.

I thought they were on Bloody Marys. The waiter overheard me asking them about it and brought me over a glass.

Today I cleaned the pool, swept the chimney, and sorted out the firewood for winter, as we are being warned that there may be blackouts. Time to relax now….

Today I altered (using the trim pots in the PSU) the speed of the Orbe as it was running a touch slow - now all good. Then pulled the main board out of the DCC player as it would play analogue tapes but with plenty of dropouts so checked the underside of the board and some of the solder near the analogue input was a bit grubby so gave the board a good clean. Checked the caps (all good) and the solder (all good that I could see by magnifying glass). Put back to together and analogue is now all good. Checked the arm on the Techie as too much sibilance on some tracks for VTA and that is now all good. Not too bad a day

Today I travelled 60 miles to the Subway in Stoke for a Spicy Italian 12" sub, and decided I might as well pop into the 'Wam Show next door. Well it would be rude not to

I am really pissed off at the moment. I decided to keep the SMSL 8U DAC I bought out of curiosity recently, because I am so pleased with the sound it produces, so I sold the BMC UltraDAC and took a big financial loss in the process. The new owner emails me to say the USB port isn't working at all. Great. I never once connected the USB port only used the Coax input, so that is what has pissed me off. I have emailed BMC and surprise surprise have got no answer back and that has pissed me off even more now

Today I got feedback from a colleague about the ISO Pucks I lent him to try over the weekend. He is not very happy that he now knows his system can sound better.

Five whole days later still no reply from BMC after a stiff post on their FB page and two emails. What a shower of Sh#t!
I wasn't holding out much hope from the dealer I bought it from, but he said the USB sockets have a tight tolerance and a fiddly job to make contact. He also said to check the socket hasn't got any dust accomulated from non-usage and to blow the socket out. Might be the cause.
He has a direct line into BMC so will have a chat with that person.
