Good man. What wiring is in it? Kondo Silver. Cool. I'm impressed you have been so thorough with the tonearm. I imagine your SME will sound better than standard 👍

Oli, can you share the source for the OCC tonearm wires? I've been on the search for such wires myself.

The description is all over the place now when I read more closely. Doesn't seem very legit does it?

Hi Oli,
Congratulations on the Mk8b.
To lift the Vienna to the Windfeld performance it must really be something.
By coincidence I happened to speak to Angus on the same eve he had just got back from yours, and he was equally enthused about the latest BIG step up in performance.
Very impressed that you have managed to get one before has built himself one :-)
Looking forward to a listen to one at Angus's at some point in the hopefully not too distant future :-)
Cheers. Keith

Keith It really is a masterpiece. I've never heard anything like it, and I don't say that lightly. Unfortunately it went back with Angus! There are a few little things that needed looking at, but Angus has managed to iron them out by the look of it. I cannot wait to finally get it back.

I will be interested in feedback in this cable, as one if my next projects is to add RCA sockets to my SL1200, and do a direct connection to them from the cartridge tags.
The worrying thing is if soldering the wire will negate the benefit of going OCC.

It hasn't in any of the cables i have made, but if doing low level signal cables, i have always used the smallest amount of solder possible and WBT 4% silver solder.

I will be roughly "connection neutral" in the chain.
The PCB has two solder joints for each cable, so this will be replaced by the connections either side of the RCA.
The difference is that I can upgrade the internal and external cables in the process.
I could go for a complete cable, but this becomes difficult to implement.

No. Mechanical connections are not the "bastard" everyone makes them out to be. I ran rudimentary, but telling tests on this and realised long ago that the quality of the connection Is far more important than the addition of a connection in the signal path. Make the connection a good one and you'll be A-OK

With the Avalon now settled and off for a run out at NEBO soon, I thought if best turn my attention towards the BT2. I now have an order for one so I had to get serious and work out the official price, which is £1500. A bit higher than I'd hoped, but the materials are more expensive than ever and I also now have "beneficiaries" to account for. It is worth every penny, just wish it was a bit cheaper. So, here's a kind of "sighter" This is the BT2 and Avalon case, pictured together for the first time. Now, I just need to built the BT2!

Nice looking matching cases👍 Thanks Andy, it was always the plan. Hence the reluctance to deviate. They are also REALLY nicely made.

I've got a set of those interconnects somewhere, no idea where they came from. Maplins, possibly.
