Sweet...who is the manufacturer of the attenuator? Audiopills.....but you wont find him online. His name is Stoyan. He was at the Penkridge Bakeoff with his VAS phonostage. It was utterly fantastic This is made with Tesla Resistors Its fantastic!

More new RCA sockets. These are going on my Phonostage and on the new build for KM They are very polished and being made entirely of copper, I am not foreseeing any issues. Not cheap.

They can't be entirely copper or they'd be too soft to be practical.

Yup, 100% copper too soft, cant direct plate with gold unless its mega thick, ie commercial suicide thick, usually nickel over copper, or silver over nickel over copper under that gold. Nickelless plating is becoming the norm now in europe due to new rules, so that's paladium over copper.
And it's almost never pure copper, usually berylium or zinc (brass) or tin (bronze). Pure copper would be green in a week.
If you paid 30 quid each theres a chance they are direct gold plated to sufficient depth, otherwise nah.

Well it's not brass is it! I didnt say "pure" copper either, did I?! Its Tellurium copper from what I've read and that's the outer part. The inner connection is copper, and its plated to prevent corrosion.

Fitted the new RCA sockets. They are pretty much invisible in the chain, bar a smidgen of fluidity which I'll never be able to match compared to soldering the cables directly to the PCB Now I've gone and changed the phonostage too lol. A matched pair of 2SK170V have gone in, in place of the BF861C just having a listen now.

I dont know....that's what was offered to me lol The IDSS number is important apparently, and the IDSS of the BF861C is 10-25, I think. I don't know if the V is in that range. I tried to get C because they are the right range bit none were forthcoming

Little play with this bad boy... Apart from the usual MC vs MM compromises, it's a cracker. Loved this cartridge from the first listen back in 2015 when I first visited Alan's house. As far as I'm concerned, these are VASTLY underrated. Criminally so. A while ago I bought a 312e which really sang. In fact it was Walpurgis who suggested I needed to make the jump into MC. He was right of course but I'm now using a €1850 MC cartridge and this cost me about 5% of that. Is the HA103-SEL 95% better? Nope. Not even 50% better, but it's that's last bit of quality we pay for and as good as this is, the HA103-SEL is a better cartridge. However it must be noted that the MC side of the Bigbottle is better than the MM. In the end it doesn't even matter. This cart is a cracker. I love it.

Looks great, sort of retro modern. Lol, it's an odd looking thing but it makes a great sound... Art Blakey is on and it's really good. I may revisit the MM cartridge area with a Goldring 2100....I loved that cartridge.

Just did a little setting up.
Sorted the VTA which I hadnt bothered with and the HF has responded well, as youd respect.
Theres a nice sheen to the cymbals now. Not as metallic sounding as the HA103-SEL or as refined but it's not harsh or grainy.
Bass tightened up too.
I'll play with the alignment later. I'm knackered. Cut down a tree today in the sun so feeling a bit wiped out.
