Yes mate. I reckon theres 100 per box minimum. I've got a 18x8x12" box of CDs in clear plastic sleeves to go through too. Must be 500 in there too. They're were my Dads, cousins collection. He retired last year and moved to Anti Paros I n Greece. He has them all on two 64gb iPods. I tried to tell him that mp3 was not the best way but to listen to the files, but he said, "I have sea, sand sun and an ever revolving hedonistic group of women who visit the island every year....music is the backdrop" Lol....hes a legend. Yeah.. envy. Have a mate who’s got a house on the Peloponnese. Wonderful. We had thought about a long term rental, but that’s a distant dream. Had thought that with a little micro system as long as you had internet you could get by. Lucky man though.

He had already bought the house in Anti Paros and was selling his gaff in Germany. He now doesn't need to work, and he doesn't. He's also one of the best people on Earth. Honestly..... Nothing but love for him. We were in Greece last year or so, and when he knew we would be there, he took two fishing boats, a ferry and a bus to the island we stayed on just to see us. He is my favourite human.

I heard so much bad press on the quality of the vinyl version of his album - I have listened on Tidal and thought it was very good. Hope you enjoy

Thats as bad as I have seen on a new album, almost puts you off buying vinyl??
I just bought an album of the Modern Jazz Quartet Live in Europe and its about 50 years old. Absolutely mint like it has just come off the press. Not a click or pop and second hand from Discogs.

It was fine after a clean Jim, but yes, I do wonder how those who don't have a RCM would even attempt to play it?

It's slow going here at the minute. Loads to do but cant do anything until parts arrive.....yesterday I decided a little garage cleanup wouldnt hurt....went to the garage and then decided that I'd waited long enough to buy a Pillar Drill. I've wanted to buy one for years and just never have. I went online, snapped one up for a bargain £50 and sat there happy. Then last night whilst walking the dogs, spotted a ......... pillar drill that had been left out for the scrap man. Obviously I wasnt going to leave it there, so I took it home. Plugged in and no movement. Following a chat with Firebottle, I removed a capacitor, which he thought may be at fault. 8uf 450v it should have been. Measured at 2nf.....pretty safe to say it's no good. Ordered a new Cap for £4, and then my NEW Pillar Drill arrived. Should i open it? Or shouldninsee if I can get the freebie working? Ye, open it lol Freebie and newbie now residing side by side.

Fitted a pair of the super tasty RCA sockets to the Bigbottle (and ordered replacements for the other build lol) I am very impressed with them. Easy to solder, good quality and they have made a difference to the sound IMO. These will be my go to RCA socket from now on.

A strange day today......
It started really well. I fitted the new RCA sockets and was incredibly impressed with them, for about an hour, then everything fell apart.
Well, truth be told, it was before that.
I have long been a fan of Sonic Waves Solder.
I have used it for 90% of everything I have done and have never had an issue with it. Unfortunately they seem to have stopped making the one I liked. I picked up a length of their other stuff...."Green Arrow"
Its absolute Sh#t
I soldered the sockets using it and honestly, it had a consistency like playdoh as it melted and then as the heat died off it dried to a super dull finish with black flakes in it.
I checked for continuity and resistance and everything was A-OK
I plugged the phonostage in and as I said, I liked what I heard, for about an hour.
Then, seemingly out of the blue, all the bottom end disappeared. The bass notes just exited the building. I really had to listen hard to try and follow the bass lines and to go with it, the HF seemed to become far more pronounced. It was thin and fizzy.
I persevered but I wanted to turn it off. So I did.
Back to the garage and I removed the Green Arrow solder, believing that it was the solder at the fault.
New gleaming and shining joint were made and i got back to it. But still it didnt sound right.
Setup checked out fine, cables are fine, everything else is fine.
I've spoken to my usual gurus and they cannot fathom a reason for this to happen.
I have played vinyl all day, not listening, just leaving vinyl playing.
After 7-8hrs, I decided to listen and I am thinking it's getting slightly better. I played Dire Straits last and the bottom end does appear to be slightly reappearing.
Is this just a coincidence of timing and the Phonostage is burning in...it is essentially brand new and I haven't played a lot of vinyl through it....or are the RCA sockets actually a bag of Sh#t?
I am loathed to believe they are crap as they did raise the performance (no argument required) so how can they suddenly turn?
I'll play more tomorrow and see what happens
Puzzled.

I tried that green arrow solder last week ,hated it. Got some leaded of the bay, a bit thinner gauge and very easy to work with. Not too pricy either, no silve in it but nice to use at a lower temp. Don't see how it might affect the sound though.

I have some other stuff I use for the cables so I'm not short but that stuff is expensive lol Thanks for the link!

Nice one. I ended up with my bandsaw that way. Free to a good home because it didn't work, well how hard could it be...... Turns out the centrifugal switch wasn't working properly so the whole thing would start to smoke after a few seconds. Wired the starter winding to an external switch instead and has been working well for about 6 years now. Obviously it is not "stranger proof" so unless you know what to do it'll just burn out lol......
This was a response to you getting your free pillar drill, I'd not realised there were following posts....

Retrieved these from an old top loading VHS player. Thought id see how far out of spec they are. Well, they weren't everything was within 10% of the stated value.. Hows about that ay! Only 2 were out of whack, which for a 40 year old machine, is pretty impressive.
