Had a Proton amp once. Might’ve been an A520?

I've heard that one in the middle it was pretty good. Very insensitive, though, would not give more than a whisper out with a passive pre-amp.

Eagle International: Probably from the same Japanese factory as this Audiotronic LA-4000 amp. And this Alpha Highgate FA-200 item.

That’s a brand I haven’t come across. I had to use the quote facility, as I'm not getting a reply button on this thread. Anyway, How about Major equipment? Beautifully made gear from the late seventies. Wasn't marketed in Britain for long. If I had to guess, I'd suggest it came from the Pioneer factory. Major AS-8010A amplifier with TS-20A tuner.

That looks lovely. I can’t see any reason why “reply” should be missing for you,

That looks lovely. I can’t see any reason why “reply” should be missing for you, Reply function still missing. Hence, I have to quote! Rather limits my input.

I liked those. I found the slightly bigger GA-202 better sounding though.

I had to google them. I think I prefer the silver with black trim to the black with silver trim. Both have a cool look to them though.

Early 70's Yamaha 'CA-700' Nothing like your typical Yammi of the 70's.. There was also Receivers & Tuner with this matching Aesthetic styling. Edit: I forgot to mention there was a 'CA-500' in the range as well as a 'CA-500Q' which had a 4 Channel effect.

Nikko TRM-50. I lusted after these when I first got into Hi-Fi, got one eventually. Nice amp! (not as good as the Rotel RA-611 I had back then though)

Armstrong late 60's '400' series amps, Tuners & Recievers. You gotta see them lit up in the flesh to appreciate how nice they are. They were designed by a one off designer that won awards at the time..

Those Armstrong’s are incredibly beautiful. The Kenwoods make it hard to understand how we went from battleship build to tat and nobody complained.

In fairness I'll bet they were very expensive when new, a couple of grand in today's money. plenty of companies making tat for the budget market back then, Amstrad for example. You'd need to have been on doctor or dentist money to afford those Trios when new.
