With the typical late 1970's Japanese Aesthetic. JVC 'JA-S11', 'JA-S31'. The 'JA-S11' was the first Japanese amp i ever owned. It was a very rare Black one, was big & heavy. You will be suprised how many people are using these kinda amps..

Those Armstrong’s are incredibly beautiful. Thing is Andy. Although those old British amps were a lesson in Aesthetic design. The amps themselves were unreliable & did not sound that great. One of the Ferrograph 'F307' i used must have broken down about three times. Even after a cap change etc, still broke down.. This is the reason you always see me Champion old Jap amps these days. Utterly reliable in contrast. I just think they sound better too.The circuits were certainly more kind to the components.. I understand Hi-Fi enthusiast Have this strange need to buy British for some very odd reason as if its written in the book of 'How to be taken seriously if your an Hi-Fi buff'

It is, it's on page 22. I've always thought it a bit weird too. I suppose it dates back to that period between the War ending and the Japs getting their Sh#t together when British kit was pretty much the only game in town. At least in Europe anyway.

Have you read as far as page 39, Entitled ' Why using Vintage Equipment would take my street credit away' The entertaining read right at the bottom of that page is 'Remember never admit to Vintage sounding better than present gear' Deffo got the makings of a best seller..

Full of Beauties like 'Just keep a dozen very well recorded albums in your collection, then your system can always sound good even though in reality its the polar opposite'..' Never be tempted to use Tone controls because your Hi-Fi buddies will Exile you'

I remember about a dozen albums you’d find in every dem room.
Tango in the Night, Love Over Gold, Road To Hell, Graceland, Tracy Chapman, Alphabet City, Diamond Life, The Christians, Introducing The Hardline. That’s the most common ones I saw.

What about the products that have a valve or two built in just so the light up and get warm?

They're for people who are thinking about getting serious but are not happy to take the plunge just yet. Like easing yourself into a cold swimming pool.
