As many of you know back in November I had a bit of an epiphany or a brain fart depending on your point of view. Out went the MFA Baby Ref, GamuT D200, Lector CDP7TL Brinkmann Bardo/12" OL EnterpriseMk4 (once the Bardo is back from service in Germany the tt & arm will get sold) & ML Summits (still awaiting a buyer). The above was replaced with: 6000CDT, IA ST40 MK4 SE, SF Toy Towers. Oh yeah I also sold my 2 box BB3 and bought a 1 box BB3 which the seller kindly black vinyl wrapped for me. Last Friday I took a run up to Leeds to collect my new 6 sided 401 plinth from Paul Knipe (Solid Sounds), the only 90° angle is the front left corner. On the way back from Leeds I accidently stole (price was stupidly low) a pair of speakers from a non-forum chap in Northampton. Anyway I finally decided to get them out of the car Sunday evening and set them up. I've been playing with positioning since then and am finally at a point where I think they may be staying.

Love that plinth, looks great - and unique.
Those Hecos - I heard at a show, expected to like them, wasn't so sure about them afterwards but it was only a quick demo.

So will the monster heco be replacing these ? Quite a difference in price Let's just say I've been in contact, and will probably pop over to Stowmarket for a listen. He's potentially interested in doing a PX deal with my 2 way for their big brother. Nowt wrong with the 2 ways, they're bloody superb, I've probably got the best sound I've ever had but....... Also with the 3 ways popping up in the pfm classifieds, any thoughts of going after a MasterSounD 845 Compact that 2nd hand hifi have is now on the back burner, atleast until I've sold some stuff.

On further consideration I've decided not to go ahead with the audition/potential swap for the big Hecos. Have decided that whilst I'd absolutely love to have them, physically they'd be a compromise in this room.

When I first read you were interested in the larger Heco's, I got the feeling you were going back down the route you have just reversed out of. From what I can see your system looks well matched and you're enjoying it. Time to stick.

Had 3 hrs with it last night, its stunning, at this point I think I prefer its presentation to that of the Umami Red. To my ears its fuller, richer & more organic yet still very detailed, it seems to have added the right amount of warmth to the slightly clinical presentation of the ST40. Let's see what the weekend brings as I will have time to play with the loading of both carts.
Oh yeah and something else arriving tomorrow.... watch this space.😁😁😁

All those sales are burning a hole in your pocket then. Pleased you're enjoying your new cartridge, will the Hana be up for sale or be kept as a back up? What about a clue to your new new purchase.

It's tomorrow.....we're waiting 😂 So am I, for the delivery driver, don't know when the lazy shite is going to make an appearance. You'll no doubt be telling him/her what a 'lazy shite' they are when your delivery arrives. It's a job I would not fancy doing with the amount of traffic and roadworks we see today on motorways. Then the delivery address has to be found, you know as well as I do how busy roads are in cities and towns nowadays. Anyway, let's hope the 'lazy shite' will find you and deliver safely a piece of hifi that they could only dream about owning.

Been to busy enjoying my new toy to post 😃😃😃 (it arrive at 10:07) Fired it up initially in system 2 with the Arcam Two Plus fed by a Wiim Pro and Caiman SEG50 (80s QED ICs & DNM SCs). Fook me sideways!!! £350 worth of source & DAC really shouldn't sound this good, the Arcams sounded absolutely stunning on the end of this. Was going to spend some time with system 1 before swapping so I had a reference but after playing the same tracks on both systems (Wiim/Caimen/MastersounD Vs Zenith/BI/ IA ST40) it would obviously be a pointless exercise. System 2 with the MastersounD in, was well ahead of the main rig for openness, richness and detail. Yep I was right, system 1 has seriously benefited from the inclusion of the MastersounD Compact 845. It's also changed my preference of carts, before the PW Ti was king now I'm not so sure, it's still rich and detailed with great insight. However the Umami Red also does this but with a rather Pleasing warmth to the sound, it's a bit more organic. Hmm,think maybe I will have to have a play with loading over the weekend, no time now as off out on Chef duty for mum in 15 minutes.
