jandl100 I'm sure you have said somewhere, but what do you use for eq'ing everything? Streaming is sourced through my phone, I use the PowerAmp eq app. It's a remarkably powerful and flexible thing; up to 31 bands of eq (iirc), with measured eq settings for hundreds of different headphones, and the ability to modify and save these. So you can generate countless personalised eq settings all accessible with a tap on the screen. It also can control volume and L/R balance.

I wouldn't take what he says about I2S seriously.
I2S was not intended to be used to connect devices via cable transmission. Nor was it intended to improve sound quality (there is no room for improvement in any case).
The idea that it improves SQ was made up by the salesman from PS Audio.

Think you will find that a few others used and marketed I2S connection before PS Audio . Perpetual Technology springs to mind as I still have some of there original units DAC/Upsampler which can connect I2S .

The use of I2S is because it is the method used on the circuit board for chips to communicate with each other so it means that there is no translation to another protocol so the signal is not messed with . It,s other advantage is that part of the stream is a full clock signal which most other protocols do not have .

Yes - it was an attempt to establish a standard protocol which as usual just ended up adding to the proliferation of standard protocols.

I know I was "taken in" by Paul from PS, and duly got a Matrix Audio box to convert the signal from my main source, a PC's SSD, with 800 flacs on it. I then got a cable from AQ, namely the Carbon HDMI, plugged it in to the i2S on my PS dac, and was way way better than just using USB... Now whether it was my ears or was a genuine upgrade in sound, am not sure, but sticking with it
