Yes SLP1200 - I love it, it's my third one. First two I had died so I swapped them for this one which has been completely stripped, cleaned, repaired and rebuilt. All new buttons and switches. It's picky about reading discs with any smudges or scratches though, which is why I've also got the Sony X505ES. That's also good just not as good.

There's also a Parasound CDPi1000 visible in the third picture. Rack mount front. That's a cut above as well.

Wow, plenty speakers to play with. I always liked that idea. Good amount of space behind them too. That opens up the sound no end Andy gives you many more options AFAIC.

Sort of but also means I can't get the best out of speakers that need to be close to a wall - the opposite problem to what most people have. I can set up to fire across the room as well as down it, the separate A/V system does that. But I prefer firing down the length by a margin All the space behind does help with giving the depth to recordings, but like everything it is a compromise of sorts.

Looks like, a good room for Quads. I used to like wall reinforced designs but not many that I still like today.

1500 quid .. jesus..are the lazers available for em? Yes, there are other models that use the same laser so you can get them but you have to set the laser up which is not straightforward. Mine has had the laser replaced, also some capacitors that were failing were replaced. And some resistors on the output board substituted for metal film types, supposed to give greater clarity.

Don't think I could live with bass that does not come from a box though. The rooms big enough that I don't have any problem with bass nodes causing booming even with speakers that go really low. Ceiling is quite high too, 9.5 feet.

They are slightly different. I also wasted a huge amount of years believing what the magazines said, I know now it mostly a crock of shite.

When I was working in a hifi shop, I took a pair of 57s in px. I deemed them on the shop floor to get interest. Played them to one guy who was amazed at the lack of box coouration.
Then I realised I’d switched the comparator back to the JPWs sat behind them!
They were just too sloooow for me. 63s had better bass but weren’t as good at the things that Qiads do well. I really wish the Naim electrostatic had made it into production. Might’ve been more my thing.

There are the modern quad ESLs that have moved on from the 63. I heard a set of those, the smaller cheaper ones, and they were pretty good. That would be what I would go for if I was tempted.

I've given some of it away.
I especially need to move the IMF TLS50 on as they are taking up too much space.

I'll make a list and you can see if there is anything you fancy. I don't have any of the modern re-releases, it's all original pressings or re-pressings from the 1970s and early 1980s.
