still blistening heat here ffs.
we've had spainish weather here since may...had almost no rain at all..30 degrees already at 9am..crops here have been destroyed..farmers are saying they will have to slaughter cattle as they will have no feed for them over winter just like the summer of 76 here..gets tiring after a few months lol..when u consider we're only 600 miles from the arctic circle it has to be the planet fooked up

Unbelievable for Sweden! Average for Cyprus is 31 at this time of year, it’s 33 today and it’s hot AFAIC. I like it up in the hills. I might well move there soon. I just need to find the right place, which isn’t easy when you can’t drive, Still, I am looking.

This Summer hasn’t been especially hot (31-34) but I have struggled more than previousl years. Not sure why.

Sun back out again now. I know, terrible isn't it... I just hate this weather! Doesn't help that I work from home and I don't have air conditioning. Think I might need to buy a unit for use next year.

Personally I’d look at an air cooler rather than air con for Blighty. No need to vent it, you will get more instant results and it costs a lot less to run. Different story if you are looking at a permanent installation but it seems overkill fir Britain and you can’t move it around like you can an air cooler, so you will need a unit in each living room or bedroom.

Man, that’s unhealthy. It has reached 33 indoors here but air con soon brings it back. It’s 30 indoors right now though and I have the air con on. It will get to about 28 then not go any lower because the sun heating the building and air leaking in from outside will fight against it.

Worth considering, yes. Hopefully they have moved on a bit. We had one at the office I used to work in at my previous employer, and it was great when you first turned it on, but just started pumping out hot air eventually.

Our local supermarket uses huge ones. They look super expensiveness and could probably pin someone to a wall and freeze dry them on full! I saw them for sale and they were under 600 Euros. About the size of an Naim DBL so you probably won’t need one that big!

Is that for a few units or just one? It’s a helluva lot for one. You’d be better off doing it yourself.

30.7 inside here and 28 outside. I’m kinda used to it now, but it can’t be good for you. Doing anythjng physical indoors in 30+ degrees is ridiculously tiring. I’ve been done DIY here at times and stripped off naked to do it because your clothes just get soaked through. Always careful with the saw though

Yes but even when serviced it’s fighting a losing battle with the outside, because construction here is lousy. Ours has a high ceiling and proper tiled roof but most don’t. You end up with a concrete box that acts like a giant night storage heater, it soaks up all the heat throughout the day then radiates it into your rooms at night, it only seems to cool after dawn, the. The sun tops it all back up again.
You can run the aircon for a couple of hours and set it to try and achieve 17 degrees. It will never get below 27 or 28. 20 mins after knocking it off, it’s back up to 33 again. The concrete is a bigger heater than the air con is a cooler. The only way to beat it is to go overkill and get massive over specked units, but you will pay £200+ a week if you run it 24/7.

Sh#t..yep same for me mum in spain..aircon rarely goes on due to cost.. 100 years from now i rekon we'll be fighting tooth and nail to live as close to the poles as we can..this weather we got here is insane .we're only 600 miles from the arctic circle here..

That weather has gotta melt some polar ice. Oddly, it hasn’t been above average here. Weather all over the world seems to be topsy turvy lately.
Summer 2013 I was in Kos, which is normally much cooler: usually 27 in June/Sept and 29-30 in July/August. We landed April 28th and it was 32 degrees. It only got worse and most days it was 39 throughout. Nighttime low was 33 and we were in a concrete box with no aircon. It’s a blindingly beautiful place, but that heat was something else to deal with, especially at night.
Hottest day I’ve been here was 51. It was 55 in Nicosia on the same day. Apparently Death valley only reaches 57. I’ve had worse days with lower temps. If humidity is high it’s much worse.
