This is the enclosure that will become the BBu. "SILVER!" I hear you cry! Don't worry, I think I've found a black enclosure too. I would not want black or silver but champagne Ohh.. excellent With wood sides?

You mean because I have gone for the 'air' variety? My proto case is silver but a little taller to enable orientation optimisation. Alan, you have obviously not been keeping up, too busy modding my pre to within an inch of it's life (only joking I am still in no hurry) A week or so ago, Oli showed us a photo of the new case, only silver cases available, one or two of us pushed for a black one to be made available, but Oli said NO Since you were not using a case, going commando as it were, I joked, you didn't like silver either.

They do vinyl wrap for cars so it must be pretty good and also I know Eddie Stobart trucks are vinyl wrapped in their colours of red and green.

ANYWAY......
I popped round to Alans today to get a listen to his prototype BBu.
It's a bit harder to go back to listening to Alans system these days, as i don't hear it as often as i once did, but i was able to listen for things that i perceive as "common"
Background noise is usually "common" and today, i am very pleased to report that we have succeeded in reducing the background noise to seriously low levels. In Fact, we were playing the music fairly loud and i hear none at all.
The channel separation is a huge plus now. The imaging was miles ahead of where i hoped we would land with it.
The valve selection of 6N23P-EV-OS look to be an inspired choice. Wonderfully engaging tonality and extensive levels of detail. Especially in the LF region, which is probably the main area most valve gear falls down in my opinion.
Layering was excellent and it managed to breeze through complex pieces of music of the Buena Vista LP.
I commented to Alan that the refinement of the sound quality was staggering. The BBu demonstrating what a grown up valve phonostage sounds like.
I am now really itching to get mine built. I think we have something really special on our hands to Add to what has become a formidable line up of Bigbottle associated goodies.
The BB3, BBu, BT2 and Avalon are serious pieces of kit. I am really proud of what Alan, Angus and I (lol...me!) have managed to achieve.

What for the 7 pin? It's the Voltage regulator valve, so it's not necessary. The Teflon ones are for the signal stuff.

Yes, dual mono. Separate PCB for each channel. Proper stuff.

Haven't you read the thread title Andy? Premier Dual Mono Hybrid Phono Stage
A little ongoing development with the transformers will result in the best solution.
