I rarely drink. Never touch spirits and don't like wine. If it's hot, or I have been grafting hard I can enjoy a beer, but it rarely runs to two. There are tastier, more refreshing things to drink. Gimme a glass of milk any day. Better for you too. Fizzy drinks are shite so I don't drink those either.

Used to drink more than I do now, especially when I lived abroad. Like to share the odd bottle of wine with the evening meal and a slug of whisky in coffee occasionally.

I used to booze every night, get out the pub at one in the morning and be in work by eight. Can't do that anymore, getting old.
Cut down to 3 or 4 nights a week, just a couple of cans in the house.
Will be having a bevvy tonight with the footy. Not back in work now until next Tuesday so doesn't matter how much I drink but I won't overdo it, even if we win.

The price of booze in pubs is scandalous, I can buy Six tins of beer in the supermarket for the price of one pint in my local.
Little wonder pubs are in decline.

Does the cold make them drink more, maybe? Like the Scots. I went to Norway once to see Dutch friends there and they were pretty bad alcys. However they said they were lightweigts compared to the Norwegians. It is the long nights I think, plus the price of anything of with alcohol in it was off the scale (this was 2001).
Spent about 10 years never going 2 or 3 days without getting tanked. Don't touch the stuff now though. Given up fags too. Life was boring until I rediscovered music and hifi - cheaper too. I was probably spending close to £100 a week on booze and fags then - mugs game.

I like a drink when it suits. Don't have large quantities though. I used to do pub nights on a regular basis, but not bothered for years. I just get mellow and laid back with a few under my belt.

booze is the second biggest killer. when i was a heavy drinker i suffered chronic back pain.in fact some mornings i had trouble getting out of bed. was sick maybe 3 times a year. the day i became teetotal it stopped...in fact it transformed my life.. i almost chocked to death the night before i became teetotal..woke up fighting for my life after breathing in my own vomit.
dangerous stuff and best avoided if u want to live to an old age

I wish people would realise that alcohol is a poison. Drink it neat and you will die within minutes. Even at the diluted rates found in spirits, wines and beers, the poor liver is working in overdrive filtering it out of the blood stream as fast as it is able to, until one day it can cope no more and it starts to die.
Not only that, but it attacks the brain cells and being drunk means the brain is ceasing to function properly, hence why their are countless fights and people doing stupid things like diving of tall buildings and getting behind the wheel of a car when their judgement is severely impaired.

I would hate to need the stuff. I will drink a beer when I’m hot, but I’d rather have a juice, a smoothie or even some milk. Can’t stand spirits and wine just tastes like juice that’s gone off. my brother is the opposite and it’s affected his life. He also smokes heavily and both have damaged his health. I do know people who can go out and enjoy 2 or 3 drinks in a social setting. It relaxes them and they seem to suffer no ill effects. Nor do they get to a point where they affect others. I don’t tend to like pubs and I prefer water with food when eating out, so I guess I’m more naturally disposed to not drinking.

I read a lot about the chemicals they use in processed meats. The worst one was used to add a “smoked” flavour. Not sure if it’s used in veggie stuff too, but I avoid anythjng smoked ever since. I forget all the details but I do remember being clear that it should’ve been banned ages ago based on the evidence. Of course, vested interests saw that it wasn’t. I hate smoking and especially hate cigarettes. Governments don’t match their words with deeds though. They pretend they want people to stop but they seem awfully keen on milking them for duties. If they wanted to deter people, a big hike in duty rather than incremental rake-offs would be more evident, I’d stop new smokers from starting by placing a ban on all under 16s smoking, extending This to under 17s the next year, then under 18s the year after. To put it more simply, if done ttoday, it would mean anyone’s born after July 2002 would never be allowed to smoke. Anyone born before that date could carry on but would be increasingly out of touch with society. A few years down the line, we would have a whole generation of non smoking adults. No existing smoker would have been banned and manufacturers would have time to adjust to it being phased out. Will it ever haplen? Not a chance. Too much money and too many vested interests.

No existing smoker would have been banned and manufacturers would have time to adjust to it being phased out. Will it ever haplen? Not a chance. Too much money and too many vested interests. I can happily never touch any alcohol at all. My sin is smoking and despite countless attempts the weed still has it's firm grip on me.
It is not a filthy habit, it is a full blown clinical addiction evry bit as addictive as cocaine. It is the hypocrisy surrounding it that annoys me, as years ago I saw images on TV of chemists sweeping a hayfever product of their shelves and burning it because ONE old lady died from taking it, whereas hundreds of thousands are dying every year from smoking illnesses yet I have never seen images of tobacconists sweeping fag packets off their shelves. Sheer hypocrisy.
Banning it will just take it underground and the USA's prohibition era is a prime example of how effective banning is.
I don't know for sure, but I suspect tobacco duty propped up the NHS bill for a good number of years so their preaching about people giving up is probably biting their ass financially right now.
I tried vaping last year and that made me very ill with water on the lungs. Can't win.
