well its nearly a week since i had this up and running and i must say its a really engaging phono stage,so much so i haven't felt the need to plumb the paradise back in,is it better? i dont know all i do know is im happily enjoying listening to my vinyl . credit where its due to alan and oliver for the money it cost to build it really is a no brainer.

It really is a cracking stage isn’t it . Glad your enjoying it
I reckon there’s a few of us that would like to read an unbiased comparison between the latest greatest BB3 and the best thing since sliced bread paradise .
Maybe a little personal bake-off and write up would be in order at some point so we can hear your thoughts on the merits of both as it seems that you are one of the only people that actually have both in your possession??
Might help people make a decision on which route to go if they’re after a new phono

Yeah exactly mate which tells me they are bloody close performance wise so it would be nice to hear about the sonic qualities of both for anybody in the market

I'm intending jumping on the BB3 bandwagon at some point Oli, but I hear you've got a souped up version coming out at some point, is this true, maybe the ultimate distillation of BB3? It's not really a sooped up BB3 variant. We learned a few things from the BB3 development that we think contains the secret sauce, but Alan has identified some areas that when given a "performance over price" budget, he has been able to greatly improve on. We are going to mix the secret sauce In to this new design and see what happens. It's a true Dual Mono design with a new dual mono power supply. All specifically designed for the phonostage. There are no Electrolytic caps in the PSU and it uses some really rare Teflon caps that Alan managed to source in bulk. He bought them all! At the moment, our PCB guy who does the layouts, has some stuff on his plate, so I don't expect any prototype PCBs before Christmas and so far the theoretical purchase price is sitting at over £3k. Materials alone are making my eyes water. However, this is an attempt at making something truly extraordinary, and is entirely extravagant in terms of materials chosen. I'm even looking at sourcing new measurement equipment that can take precision matching of resistors to new levels of stupid. Until we get some PCBs though, we are waiting.

I don't want to hijack this thread (sorry Jamie), good news Oli. Good things come to those who wait. I've not done BB3 yet because I knew you had something in the pipeline.
