I think they could work Oli. I have hammered mine and although they can play loud and powerful I cannot get the Bass to step out of line in my room. If anything I only just get enough bass, I think the Hecos are really about quality rather than quantity because the bass they do produce seems to be fairly tight and tuneful but certainly not overwhelming. To be honest I could do with some much bigger speakers probably with 8 - 9 inch drivers! Decoupling the Hecos from your floor with the Townsend + Gaia 2 Isoacoustics should help a big deal. I would also try putting some massive granite slabs or concrete slabs under the speakers too, anything to stop them exciting the floor!? That's pretty much how I remember them too. Tight agile and detailed bass without any boom at all. I did put that down to Angus' room though, as I would with yours. I am hopeful and the fact I managed to get misterc's sub in there without it going bananas was down to that huge lumpnof wood it was sat on along with the Black Ravioli pads. What's good to hear is that three people suggest it *could* be possible. Just need to shift this Piano

Seems the piano may not be moving after all. At least not immediately: Hello sir, thanks for your order.
We have to inform you, that ebay made some changes, which we cannot agree:
As you are VAT free country now, we can reduce the VAT, but ebay normally does not make it and we use that sucharge to cover the exorbitant high freight cost to England now.
I palett to England and with tax declaration and so on, it is 400-500,- EUR. I can only offer that you arrange pickup by own courior, or you must pay my real freight costs, or I am sorry to tell you that I can only offer a cancel.
How can we solve the case?
When I normally have 1200,_ EUR plus about 50,- freight, I have enough profit to cover my cost, very sorry."Looks like he hasn't allowed enough margin to ship to the UK and now he either wants more money or to canel the purchase. This is very dissapointing news and as much as i like the speakers i won't be sending any more funds, as i'll then pay even more in VAT when they land because they cost more. Heco's are elluding me at every turn. What a shame

I had thought of that but I don't believe it's the eBay fees that are an issue, I think it's the shipping Highly likely that he's sold them too cheap and the postage is a killer and it's eaten his profit. I'll message him tomorrow and see what he says about buying direct.

From his message, it seems that he keeps the VAT to cover his shipping costs, which means you would pay VAT on top as well? Have you checked someone like UPS to see what the delivery costs are?

I checked out that Amazon.de and got asked for approval via text. Not having any knowledge of German I very nearly bought a pair by accident. I can usually sneak cables and valves into the house, but I might have a struggle explaining that one. Interesting though.. Amazon in Germany seem to be confirming the price del to uk

If you buy through Amazon, they may use their logistics to ship to you. The price also looks like it includes the VAT, so it would be worth asking Amazon.

is there a plan b oli? keep the yamaha's or start a fresh? Sorry Jamie, missed your post. I think at the moment i am just going to hang fire for a bit. I am not sure i can be arsed with the XO upgrade on the yams atm as I have so much going on. I still have my own system to build properly. Half of it isnt even in a box of any sort and if it is i haven't got the lid on it or there are screws missing etc. I havent built my Avalon BT2 yet (BT2 preamp with Angus's Avalon phonostage inside) I need to build a nother Stepped Attenuator for the loan unit i have said a couple of people can try, Then there is the new phonostage in development with Alan and Craig, which is going to be a pricey build. I need to do the LPSU for the DAC I have speaker cables to make and try, and then there are all the BB3's waiting to be built. If the XO parts came, they would just sit in the box for months so i will wait and see what pops up. I *may* have a line on a pair of Heco's but wont know until the end of the month, and i am still watching for pairs of Quadral Orkan VIII's that may be possible to get over here. The Yams are not a problem in my system in any way, but there is an itch to get the Heco's in. I really loved what they did.

A new phono stage? Is this another step up from the BB3?

A new phono stage? Is this another step up from the BB3? Ah.....i've said too much This one is not a DIY project and will not be released as a project. In fact, you know those old bits of kit that get labelled "it costs so much to make, it wasn't released".....it's probably going to end up in that category. I'll happily start a thread on it at some point but Craig is busy making custom footprints for the PCB layout and we are still weeks away from getting a 3D PCB rendering of it, so i havent really got anything pic-based to share. It would all be design based gumph, and quite boring to read. As for a "step up"........ It *should* be a step up, yes. How many steps, we dont know. Like i say, this is a very expensive experiment but we're hopeful and quietly confident that what we are doing (and what Alan has conjured up from the depths of his mind) should be pretty epic.
