Ah, forgot he'd using those psu boards.
Never the less, the lead outs come off the transformer correctly ordered, so the outer two wires are the outer two on the psu boards and the middle two are the centre tap.

I have connected them up correctly in the order they come out, but I will check before I power the amp on that they are correct.

A parcel from Calgary is arriving today... Make that tomorrow, as although I have a Fedex account, they need a cheque to be able to deliver. The wife has the cheque book with her at work.

I won't be able to install it until the new heatsink arrives, later this week anyway.

They need a cheque? What's that all about?
I don't know about France but in the UK we don't accept payment by cheque anymore.

Yes but there's no requirement to pay them by cheque? You are right, you can pay them online.

Yes but there's no requirement to pay them by cheque? They have not sent me a link to pay online, and I have looked online. Even though they have my account number, and my bank card is up to date, I need to pay by cheque, otherwise the driver would not give me the parcel.

French banking is a little in the dark ages, however a cheque is as good as cash as cheques cannot be cancelled in France.

Fair enough. I don't get onto the Continent much, I forget how different it is.

I am happy to report that having checked the windings phases, they are indeed correct as to the order they leave the transformers, and they were connected correctly. I have tested the first Power 686 board, and happy to say I get the power on led, and the voltages at the board output are correct.
Now I am going to wait at least 15 minutes before I put my hands back in the case, while the capacitors discharge.

Power 686(2) now tested, and all good to go.
Thanks for the support so far. This was probably the step I am most uncomfortable with. However, it is now done, and I am a happy chappy.

I have not yet provisioned for an earth tab. I was thinking of using an M3 or M4 bolt, either through the "power tray" or directly through the bottom of the case. The "power tray" bolts into the case, and I can check continuity/resistance to make sure it is acceptable.
Is this ok? or should I create a larger hole in the tray, and fit the bolt through the bottom of the chassis?

Still a bit to do, but I am definitely getting there. If the heat sink arrives soon, I hope that by the end of the weekend, this will be up and running.
If the power is OK, the amp boards are already assembled so I don't need to test them.
I think the first test will be done using my FH3s, as I can replace the drivers relatively easy compared to my other speakers.

Any pictures of the order and how you’ve connected it as it may be helpful for me to eye it up before my upcoming build in a few weeks time ? Tar

Not yet. I can take one, but basically, you look at the order the wires come out of the transformer,, and connect them up to the power board in that order, with the two central wires in the two central positions. I would recommend doing a proper test as per the instructions that Alan gave me though, just to be 100% sure.

The best I can do until I take the heat sinks off. Secondary wire on the furthest left goes to the first connector on the Power686 board, and so on. I identified the centre taps with a bit of white heat shrink, which I have not shrunk.

I have quite enjoyed this so far. Nothing to be scared of, except the total cost.... 2021 I plan to tackle my BB3, instead of just buying valves for it. A single case job.

Or talk someone into matching the resistors for you?
