What is the second best PCC88 for a BB3? I bought some ERA PCC88 today, as I liked the look of them.... Hopefully they will be ok.
Ideally I would like a Telefunken, but I am not prepared to pay the prices. I already have a few TFK PCC189s, so maybe I should treat myself to just one PCC88?
I am assuming that the heater voltage is too high to pop some ECC88s in to the PCC88 position?

Just picked up a Mazda ECC83 with a <> base for less than €40. link
I also spotted a cheap TFK ECC83 - about €60

Still on the look out for some TFK PCC88. Seen some for reasonable money, but they may be rebadged Siemens.

Nope. What should it look like? This is an ECC83, but how it dimples is a very definite clue as to who made it

I also spotted a cheap TFK ECC83 - about €60 Nice! If you check the test readings in the bay listing, the Mazda TFK is significantly used, not NOS as advertised. Too many tube sellers on eBay apply this tag haphazardly. I have hundreds of tubes but not having bought them directly from the source I can never say in all honestly if they are NOS or not (given they are from 1940, '50, '60,etc) or unless they arrived sealed. What can be said is if they TEST new or otherwise. The distinction is important. Ebay is an absolute lottery for tube purchases- charlatans abound and knowledge/correct info/reliable specs and measurements are very thin on the ground.
