I think I'm going to go against the grain and install the terminal blocks for the inputs.
Reason being I may "experiment" with cabling just in case there's any noise picked up so it's going to make trying things a darn site easier....

that sounds like a wise move.

Well I guess it's good news and bad news. Good news is it didn't go bang, bad news is it didn't do anything.....
AC power is on to the board so I will have to start probing around...

Nope, nothing. A pisser indeed. I realise others have asked before for circuit diagrams so I guess there's no change there??

Cheers Oli. Any starters for 10 would be much appreciated....
There's nothing else connected, no input or outputs but assume it should appear lifelike regardless? The HV and LV entering the board is fine.

What of? If I spot owt wrong I'll let you know but mains in is ok.... If you have some typical voltages to be found let me know and I'll check the specifics

Try it without the valves first and check that you have around 7.7 to 7.8V across pins 4 & 5 of the valve sockets. If so heater reg is OK.
Then measure from either 4 or 5 to the ground (output or input connection) and if the HT is correct you should measure 55-60V, this is the heater lift potential. If you get less or nothing there is a problem with the HT reg/filter, the IFR820 stage.

So when you plug your valves in do they light up?

8V sounds high for the heater voltage, check the 2.7V zener. Try plugging one valve in to see if it lights.

Ok will try that now. With all three back they didn't light, nor do the MM LEDs

Check the voltage, 2.7V zener. Sound like the heater reg might be going into current limit.

ok 2.8v with V1, 2.8v with V1 and V2, 0.8v with V1, V2 and V3.
Oh and with 2.8v, V1 and V1+V2 light

Ok thought I'd have another play and decided to change out the 7805 just in case but then on switch on I think in messing I've shorted it and ****** it up so need to take it out again. This board won't be worth a light soon... :-)
