DIY is the way to go I think. More and more of my kit is DIY, I have speakers, XO's, phonostages, plinths, amps, IC's, tonearm cables! I can associate with feeling of great satisfaction, especially when you discover a gem that works in your system.

Yes that's what I am finding, Also I feel more involved with the system due to the effort, mistakes and successes involved in making it work. Learning new skills gives me something to do too!

Thanks chaps, on reflection i think doing it again I would route the edges to round of somhow to make it a little less boxy. But having said that I am very pleased with the outcome given it's my 1st go at veneering. Sounds great too.

Looks great, what are the external dimensions as I'm making a wooden box for mine too?

That's a question I'm very interested in. The mk1 was burning in before it conked out and I haven't been able to get to a PO to send it to Alan yet for a look see.
Wouldn't be fair to compare until I've had a good listen to both 1st. Luckily it will be easy to swap them in and out of the chassis, no real effort.

Don't think you're daft enough to let them go lol. I did give you a raft of valves, maybe I put them in there by mistake? Best send them back hahaha In all honesty, they look exactly like the ones I thought I had, but couldn't find.. Anyway, enjoy them however you got them
