Bit of a continuation from a thread in another forum, I have been at this for a while now and Oliver deseves to see the end of it! I wont go throuah all the pics again but I am doing the case now ans will post the pic s here too.
Basically the idea is to expose the valve above the wood.

Back shot and trst of the top, which I still need to cut to size. I'll drill the fittings and use s bolts to attach the base to the top. The plan is to veneer it so another new adventure then. I need to cut hols for the valves and some ventilation slotts in the top too. 😎

Are those valves mirror image pinned or have you rewired the bases?

Are those valves mirror image pinned or have you rewired the bases? The base pins are wired to go to the corresponding pcb holes, is this "mirror imaged"?

Think this gives an idea of how I've done it .

electronumptyThanks for sharing this here. The wires are just extending from the corresponding pin on the PCB, should be fine. Looking great BTW. Did you sort out the little issues?

Yeah thought while it's getting some tlc I can crack on with the case. I need to find out exactly where the valves will sit too before drilling it so I need the board in for that really.

ok managed a bit today to finish the cover. Put the rest of the nuts in to connect it to the base. Photo of the underside showing feet, Ill need to drill some ventilation holes aswell. .

Measuring up for the valve holes in the top. Seemd ok so drilled pilot holes before glueing in place.

Clamped and top glueing. I drilled some test holes ona spare piece of wood to see how the valves will seat. Seems ok but not mich much margin for error! lol

I notice you have the first and second valve labelled PC88. They need to be PCC88, a different beast altogether.

Route those valve holes, they deserve a radius.

Route those valve holes, they deserve a radius. Yes I will, was going to try it today but it's been raining and I have to work outside so no good with a mains router , the drill is cordless though so that was ok to use. I'll have to try a couple of different profiled bits to see which one I like/works best.

Ok, so I sent the PCB to Firebottle towers for some TLC and Alan kindly sent an update, I didn't isolate the regulator and transistors on the heat sinks so that caused the short. Oops! But a relatively simple fix luckily. Don't forget to use those thermal pads kidz!

Cant rmember honestly, I used some thermal compund not the pads so just something to learn from for me.
He did he did also say he will check for oscillations in case the elevation of the valves above the pcb encourage this so it's not a wasted trip.

All checked out now Andy, there was an instability from the elevated valve bases coming from the first stage valve. I have fitted two grid stopper resistors directly under the valve base and all is good.

Added some holes for ventilation, these will sit under the pcb. Thinking about the top and add in some slots to the wood for the same reason.
