As the year comes to an end, I’m reflecting on the last 12 months and what I’ve changed. Also wondering what I’m likely to change in the next 12 months and how much I will spend.
in the last year I’ve changed from Spica TC50 to TC60 and I’ve added a Sonneteer Orton. I also have a pair of Petite 3s. My vinyl has gone from a Mantra to a Xerxes to the TransRotor. Oh, and I’ve added a sub.
In the next year I will be looking for a Sonneteer Sedley to replace the Trichord Dino and I may dabble with another arm and cartridge if something tasty crops up. Other than that, I don’t plan any changes or spending.
What about other folk?

Sell off the records I'm unlikely to play, which may well be 2/3 of them.
Set the TD150 up and get rid of any other turntables and arms (apart from the PL-12D), as it's not worth keeping them now I play so little vinyl.
Build my full range speakers.
That's about it I think, but I might look for an interesting pre-amp. Something unusual may appeal.

Pretty much going to continue using my Dali Spektor 2 Speakers with the Denon's. If I'm in the mood, I might change over to Dali Oberon 3 by next Summer/Autumn, 2020.

I'll keep messing around with the pi dac stack and finish off my 63s, live with them a while then flog em, fully rebuilt with all new pcbs and components.

In the next year I will be looking for a Sonneteer Sedley to replace the Trichord Dino and I may dabble with another arm and cartridge if something tasty crops up. Other than that, I don’t plan any changes or spending. What about other folk? There was a soneteer Sedley going cheap recently. I nearly bought it but went for the SiM instead. For me, I forsee quite a large investment in Digital. Maybe at the expense of the Analogue. I can see me going digital in the near future but I'm gonna give the Analogue the best chance to pull ahead. Also, I do still like what it does and the look on peoples faces when you're listing to a rare 1960 pressing of Satchmo Plays King Oliver. Another on the way in Stereo BTW. Great album. That could change but for the first time, everything else is absolutely on point. Pre, power and speakers all working together in harmony. Listening to Hans Theessink earlier (Delta Time) had me stomping my foot and rocking in the chair. Thoroughly pleasurable listen.

I really have nowhere left to go with my main system because I’m not changing from Sonneteer or Spica. My deck is too beautiful to change and that only leaves arm and cart. It won’t stop me playing with the odd bargain though.

Oli, i don't think you NEED a large investment in 'digital' these days. Loads-a-money on a dac for instance is mainly casework and facilities I maintain and yet there's still some dreck being sold.
Next year I need to replace my main speakers, or flog 'em and tart up the now tatty old Spendors which sound better in this room. I have some turntable projects to finish off and than I really need to start flogging surplus stuff as I'll be in Sh#t street if we move the year after...

Might also try another streaming transport I really like the Pi based ones but the faffing about trying to stream Tidal just puts me off.
Perhaps a passive pre I'd like to try just a pot in a box type but don't have the skill to build one myself so may buy one of those and possibly a spare stylus for mt AT 150EA.
Apart from that I'm pretty happy although the plinth onmy Techie could do with a tidy up so might try one of the plinth covers on eBay if they don't affect the sound.
At some point either this year or next I'd like to buy a headphone only option possibly a used entry level Stax?

Nothing planned at all. My system's sounding better than ever. I may even stop visiting hifi forums, just in case I'm inadvertently tempted by something in the classifieds.

Maybe a new DAC, or the SEG taken to the limit of what a modified SEG can have done to it.
The topping D50 looks like a bat gain at €160, dut still uses a Sabre DAC chip, whereas the D70 is €500. I could get a CA DACMagic + or an Audiolab M-DAC+ for that kind of money and have more than one coax input (one for the CD and one for the music server).

I want an RME DAC. Just because of the little screen and the parametric EQ. Waiting for a second hand one to come along though. Maybe my Tannoys will turn up. Need to get the Krell 50s fixed. Otherwise nothing else planned.

I will be sorting out the cheap "bargains" I have recently bought that are faulty. A Cairn Aria HE that has a wonky volume control but it isn't just a case of spraying it with contact cleaner. It is a sort of pulse generator that alters the volume electronically. Might just be a dry joint on the small PCB it is mounted on. Hope so, as Cairn have sadly demised and getting spares isn't going to be easy. Bought a Marantz CD63 that the seller said had a sticky drawer mechanism but it turns out the laser has died. A new one cost £6.99 off ebay and fitting it is a bit tricky but I did one recently on a Vincent player so have a bit more experience this time around. Once that is repaired I will sell it on. Still looking for another disc spinner with a working digital output to feed the DAC I bought recently. I bought an Exposure 2010 with that in mind but the digi outs don't work.
My good luck storage bin is rather empty at the moment

Added a G99 to the system and swapped my PMCs for Audio Notes. Keen to try an Audio Note amp when I see the right one at the right price, same goes for an Audio Note phono too or a Graham Slee Accession.... No desire to change my Naim CD player or my Bluesound/Project Pre S2 setup.....

I have bought and dumped a 103R before as it proved to be one of my most disliked carts. What's the big difference ? Does it inject the life into it that the standard one is totally bereft if ?
