A mate bought this cheap NAD receiver, to use in his bedroom.
Stage 1 pay 70 quid for the thing 15 quid for shipping then he still beat the guy down 15 quid on the price Stage 2 pay 15 quid to have the cover powder coated and do a 50 km round trip x 2 to get it done Stage 3 pay 50 quid for binding posts Stage 3 pay 50 quid for a shielded power cable stage 4 pay 12 quid for some fancy power plug Stage 5 pay 80 quid for speaker cable. Runs the one length 1 meter the other 9 meters. Stage 5 gets me to take it to my bloke to fit power cord and binding posts. Stage 6 run an antenna into the roof cut channel into wall to hide cable, same with power cable and speaker cables.
My bloke takes one look and says, no not touching it to much work no space, If I break something it is my dime, power cable is at least 10 mm thick and he wants to hard wire it. Why does he want to do something to this thing, it is a cheap thing. Will have to cut casing and posts will touch heat sink. Cable will not fit inside, no room. Not practical, and if I did have a go it would take so long I would end up charging 150 - 250 quid and still lose out on time.
Amp to be used as a radio receiver by his loony tunes partner only, playing through some rather crappy Boston speakers. He spends a lot of time bitching, she is taking him for granted, she costs him money, he pays for everything, and she won't give nookie because she is frigid. "But I love her, cant help it, she is so beautiful", think I would need at least a dozen 500 ml. lagers, some viagra, a ball gag, and a joint before the thought of tapping her crossed my mind
I take it back to him, he Sh#ts me out, you brag how good this bloke is, he is F~cking useless. You are not an Audiophile like me, I am an Audiophile, I like nice things, your stuff is Sh#t. Okay whatever, I do not give a Sh#t that is your problem.
Get home starts bombarding me with messages, sell all your Sh#t, go buy Dixon, I want the best, you are a cheapskate (true), you do not look after your stuff (untrue but who cares), I look after my stuff, my stuff is better than yours, I paid more money than you. Your speakers are DIY they are crap what do you know about building speakers there is no way a DIY speaker can be better sounding than a commercial one just look at the finish.
This Audiophile is looking to buy an Ayre V-5xe 1,500 quid or an Accuphase P500 2,500 quid (on the credit card) power amp to use with an Onkyo processor, 600 quid, into some budget Jamo home theater speakers, 300 quid. "it just has to be better I want the best". "I hardly ever listen to music, I never listen to the radio they play crap, I do not watch movies, only high resolution the movies are compressed cant stand it, I am a perfectionist, I want the best."
So there you go the best compliment someone has ever paid me "You are not an Audiophile". Quite right my friend, if you are anything to go by, then thank God I am not. And why do you keep asking for my advise, because I obviously know diddly Sh#t, which is quite obvious from your observations.
This is the same clown whose bat Sh#t crazy girl friend, pumped movies at full volume, day and night on my valve amps, and stuffed them up. A true blue blooded Audiophile, who lets his the stupid women do something like that.

Why let Sh#t like that get in the way of a good argument?
