Years ago when they used to put lead in paint. Gloss paint was ok [Not on a health basis] The shine on modern gloss paint does my head in. I just painted a new window ledge in it & i wish i had not.. I like that satin sheen Satinwood paint gives but long term reliability is questionable.. Right im off to B&Q to see if i can find an oil based satinwood paint. Im going to experiment mixing a bit of that with a bit of Gloss see if the finish gives of a none glossy finish when dried.. Hopefully i will get the hard finish of Gloss application without the Gloss shine if you know what i mean..

I thought it was a valid observation about the crap materials we spend dosh on to make our homes look tidy. Personally dislike paint. Preferring to stain wood. |

Ask me to lift a paint brush, and before you know it I have kicked the tin over. If it has to be done I pay somebody else to do it. |

Stick with the Satinwood. We used Satinwood in the locations we would usually use Gloss when we decorated about 5 or 6 years ago and it is brilliant. It hasn't gone at all yellowy like you see with Gloss after a short time. |

Wifey painted all the necessary wood all over the house in Dulux white gloss. I thought it was the best.
Cost a bomb.
Sick of buying cheap paint .
So best Dulux plus Dulux undercoat it was!
Result ? ...... Everywhere the sun doesn't shine it's gone yellow ! Not good in an old house with hidden rooms.
Seems it definitely doesn't do what it says on the tin ! How can they make a white paint that only stays white in the sun ?

I use Dulux everything. All the walls are done in Matt Dulux 'Polish Pebble' which is a light grey, Hate Silk Paint. Tried both the Dulux None Drip Gloss & the Dulux Proffesional Gloss. I just hate Gloss.
Anyway ive experimented mixing Gloss with oil based Satinwood. Just waiting for it to dry on a scrap piece. Fingers crossed ill have a hard finish Satin gloss that is more reliable than just satinwood alone..

Or have you been at the bottle, and or sniffing solvents again? Perhaps it is a sign of early onset dementia, that is a tough one to diagnose in your case, for reasons I will not elaborate on, because they are so bloody obvious. |
