Just got the mono blocks back been a good 4-5 months with out them. Been using the Line Magnetic in the mean time. Nowt wrong with that amp cant find anything to grumble about. Hooked up the mono blocks and the first thing I noticed was the imagining was absolutely spot on and it had a wider listening window. Also the separation was better. Tonally they are very similar perhaps the mono blocks are slightly snappier, then they are more than twice the wattage 32 vs 78. So it is true in this instance at least, that the things they say about running mono blocks holds some water. Using them with an entry level Audio Research SP16L, their pricey stuff is a waste of money IMO. Some pictures. Audio Research SP16L Line Magnetic 211IA Opera Consonance Cyber 800

Well, my amplifier is a dual mono which is exactly that, two separate channels, two separate power supplies and that's the way I like it.
I loaned the Pecan Pi and that had superb imaging and soundstage. That too was dual Mono.
Cant go wrong ime.

Thank you Westie. I need money, the bloke who fixed the mono blocks wants to buy them from me, I know if I sell them I will never have their like again. Paid relative peanuts for all of them 650 quid for the Line magnetic and the same for both Mono blocks and 550 quid for the SP16 which was a demo. Not worth selling, can never replace, I can get what I paid back, must sell all the other junk instead. Same with my Vandersteens only worth about 650 quid second hand, if they were B&W's they would be worth a lot more, guys here are B&Wattikins and Rothell befok. New they are about 3,000 quid here. When properly set up they sound better than most things costing $10,000 and up.

You certainly got some bargains there Lemos. Really hope you don't have to sell.

The Line Magnetic must be some amp if it gets close to your ARC and monos. I love the simplicity of an integrated.

A stonking good amp, on my Vandersteens it is a dead tie between the Line Magnetic and the pre and the monos. It makes the Vandies sing on 12W triode despite the 86db rating.
Do not get me started on hard to drive over priced, waf furniture bullcrap/frog speakers, sensitivity rating bollocks, and the power house, beast amplifier idol worship that is so prevalent.

I’m still amazed Line Magnetic haven’t hit the UK. Our loss.

The main advantage of monoblocks and even dual mono is that you have greater freedom over the grounding layout...
Yes there are loads of if's and but's and exceptions to the rule but it would be a long post to list them all!
Separation is not one of the advantages as even an amp with a shared power supply will have many times the separation of a cartridge, an FM tuner or a R2R or cassette recorder....
