This will probably make me sound like Sheldon Cooper, but I’ve realised how many conditions need to be right before I will listen to music,
I won’t listen at night. Won’t listen if it’s really overcast. Won’t listen in rain or snow. Won’t listen if it’s not warm enough. Prefer not to listen unless I’m alone. As I recently discovered, I won’t listen through headphones.
In essence I only fancy a listen if it’s daytime, fine, warm and I’m alone. I tend to listen a lot when the conditions are right, but not at all when they aren’t. Unsurprisingly I’m a Summertime listener more than a Winter one. Yeah, I’m also in the wrong country, but I’m working on that one.
Anyone else have listening tendencies/needs/patterns?

Oh my, what a list...
Music's deep in my very soul (well it's half Clwyd Valley Welsh from my Welsh speaking mother and my 'home-counties ancestry' Dad sang in choral societies all his adult life, so has to be somewhere) and I have to have music whatever it's played through (Sh#t car stereo mostly) and whenever I feel the need. I can't put conditions on my listening and sincerely wish I could have the main stereo system on all day frankly... Life's too effin' short chaps...

That’s hugely different from me, Dave, but we are polar opposites on so much in hifi, I guess it’s to be expected. Some people can use music to make them feel better. I have to feel good already before I listen.
I can’t tolerate bad reproduction either. To me, it’s all sound: either a pleasant one or an unpleasant one. Badly reproduced music sits in the same category as whistles, chimes, sirens, ringtones, crying babies, barking dogs, loud TV adverts etc, i.e. an irritant. Just the way I’m wired, but sound has to be good for me to welcome it. Transistor radios, TV sound systems, headphones etc, make unpleasant sounds whatever you put through them afaic.

I listen when the mood takes me. I don't think the weather has any direct impact on that but I suppose it could be subliminal.
If I waited for sunny days I wouldn't get much listening done round these parts.
My oppo at work says I remind her of Sheldon Cooper. I've never seen Big Bang Theory but I'm guessing it's not a compliment.

His truthfulness and lack of filters are a joy.

I use headphones a lot, especially when my daughter is asleep, but I don’t need to have any special conditions to listen, apart from wanting to.

The 'Sheldon Cooper' thing is presumably about being a fusspot, which I'm definitely not. (Having seen pictures of Macca's place, I'm guessing he's not one either). Personally, I can listen in rain, snow, sun, day, night, if others are there or not, through headphones or speakers.

Music in every room. Wherever I am is where there is music.
