No just a natural high, but man its was seriously pants, twas' like wading through treacle auraly good grief, I have never listened to anything so single minded in its sonic reproduction it is the anti-thysis to real music. Quite sobering that a product could be so Jazz and not just any jazz, but female sickly overly rich dripping mid range centric. Even The Propellar head's OMSS sound like it was being played at 1/3 speed.
I have discussed this with Oli a while ago, we need a Bell end of the week award, to be given on Fridays for the most twatish thing that happens during the week could be anything, my vote for this particular dac would go in the Supreme Bell End catagory

I love the term "Bell End", it hardly ever gets used but it has a very "correctness" when describing those people, events, things, that you think are a complete Chunt.

can we not know what the DAC is? Martin
Lets just say its one of the very 'in' dacs at the moment, its an r2r and its around the £3K mark.
I have been asked to start a review channel on YT (from a fun prespective) which I am seriously considering
Just for a taster its been awarded the following:

a pal of mine had a very cheap Marantz CD player he bought from Richer in about 1989
oddest sounding thing I ever heard, like it was remixing every song. I don't know how they managed it.

I don’t know. I have not had it yet (that I know of). I did the test as a precaution before seeing friends and family over Christmas, as I don’t have any symptoms.

Could be a false positive. It could be, so as the person in question is the sister in law, she is testing herself again before Christmas.

Found out that I will be cooking the Xmas dinner this year. That should be interesting. On the plus side it does mean it's my choice of grub.

Turkey crown from Iceland was what we had the last Christmas I was in the uk. Cooking tip, roast it the night before, slice enough for the two of you and steam them while cooking the veggies, you won't know the difference.

Went back to the Jewellery qtr today. What an incredible place !!! Whole high street full of diamond shops!! 2 Hi fi shops within 100 yards ..
Went to both , one is above a whisky shop and filled with monster avantgarde speakers , sonus Faber and huge amounts of McIntosh kit. Wow , a veritable emporium!!!
Picked up some nice Finnish handiwork made in Finland unlike much Hi fi these days

Today I recived this interesting email from one of our test equipment suppilers asking me would I like to trade up to one of these rather desirable devices:
For a moment I really did feel it is the seanson to be jolly!!!
Now This is only ne of two units I would happily sell my play time car for the deposit on this bad boy.
Here is the email; note they are giving away a MXR vversion if you purchase one of these as an incentive which is a pretty decent scope in its own right.
"Hi Anthony,
Looking for an instrument that can handle your Ethernet testing needs?
Whether you're working on validating your designs for PAM4, 400G, or 800G, Keysight has a solution for you.
And for a limited time, you can score an instrument ideal for Ethernet testing – for even less!
Check Out Current Discounts (and Request a Quote)
UXR-Series Oscilloscopes: Buy a UXR, get a free MXR-Series M8040A BERT Solution: Get a 20% discount Trade-Ins: Get hardware trade-in credits of up to 25% toward a new M8040A BERT or up to 55% toward a new UXR-Series oscilloscope (plus receive up to 97% savings when migrating your existing application licenses to a new UXR)"
Must admit I thought about it for a few minutes, then reality dawned on me, the starting point for this beastie is £500K without the specilist probes and software required, yes they will transpose the software over from yur current machine with only a 3% charge (which is bloody good trust me) however the applications (software options) start at £10K for each app and some are rather more expensive.
Suffice to say I will be politely declining the grand gesture
