Today I got the green light from senior management to fill a gap in the tv unit here. Going to look at an all in one thing firing into Harbeth P3ESR’s. Background music .. must get a pipe. Later today I’ll be up in the loft looking for stuff to sell. Anyone interested let me know, as on the list so far is a Croft Vitale, a Kenwood kd750 with AT0C9 on it, a dual 701, an audio south sut, a stereo coffee pre..and err anything else that’s lies hidden up there. I'd have had a play with that Vitale, but finances are now well and truly tied up. That should sell easily though.

Cheers… yes, I’m regretting selling it already. However the valve system was going to go in this same room. Everything bar the speakers and cable have now been removed. I have to say it’s improved the looks of the room enormously by not have hifi racks, pre/power, power supplies, streamers etc etc. But I still miss tinkering with kit there. Hey ho, domestic harmony wins.

...am really annoyed. Don't ever buy AB-302(R) Gold Plated tellurium Copper Speaker Binding post. There is no flat side to either the through-post or the insulator washers. So nothing keeps the thing from turning except herculean force on the fixing nuts. And to make matters worse, the non-twist 'tabs' on the insluator washers are so low profile that they don't catch well in the panel notch and make it very hard to get a flush fit or cinch down everything to the panel. Just as oddly, the white washers have a tab and the red ones don't. A huge waste of time and money and highly unlikely the seller at AliExpress will give money back. I'll probably just take the loss and order a different set.

Bruce, the build quality look suspect as from that image Glad you noticed. Wished I had been able to determine that prior to ordering. Looking now I'm finding even a lot of CMC stuff suspect in description and price on AliExpress.

Buy some CMC from HiFi collective and thank me later. www.hificollective.co.uk/binding_posts/cmc-858lcu-gold-plated-long-speaker-terminals.html

The only problem is that those 858-L-CUR-G are the 'long' ones and I'm mounting to a Magnepan with only 32mm max behind the panel. Found a short one on the 'Bay though coming from China.

However there is a back story to this particular picture.. and I’ll share it with you. For many years (ok, decades) my wife has put up with my hifi obsession, making concessions for massive vinyl collections and a succession of black iron framed stands with horrendous amplifiers and glowing LED’s. Probably familiar to the majority. Then 2 years ago Fiona got diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer.. and what an aggressive bastard it was too. Basically to start with chemo wasn’t working. So the oncologist said they were going to try domestos strength chemo. Well that did work, but she also ended up in hospital twice with sepsis. Nearly did for the poor girl. Anyway.. after surgery, radiotherapy and herceptin treatment..along came Covid! Jesus. So the poor girl ended up being ‘ shielded’ to protect her as her immune system had got destroyed Anyway.. here we all are hopefully looking at the back end of all this. So my way of making her life better is removing all the crap.. streamlining.. minimalistic. You want a chic, boutique hotel look? Suits me sir.

Well.. what goes in the tv unit thing is restricted by 2 things. The height.. and funds! I’ve agreed that I would raise funds by selling stuff.. and so far I’ve got about £900. So I could afford a bluesound powernode. However if I can raise another grand I fancy a Lyngdorf tdai 1120. I use a 2200 in the main basement system and like it. The Harbeths in the sitting room are hard up against the wall, so Lyngdorf’s room perfect system is good at correcting the imbalance created.

Simply react to each thing that’s put in front of you. No time to think or ponder. I’ll tell you what though.. thank god for our nhs system. It’s only when I talk to some of my American friends that I’ve realised if the same thing had happened over there, we couldn’t afford the treatments we get here.

The NHS has its faults but it's fixed everything I've thrown at it!

The main fault with the NHS is the lack of funding, and a Government that wants to implement the US(eless) medical model here.
Glad to hear Mrs W is on the mend. Room looks great. If this is a second system, for background tunes, I would be less bothered about the equipment, as serious listening would be done in the basement.

It's good to be able to do something for her that brings her daily joy or enjoyment. Good on you! (I second the appreciation of not having to go through such in America. I lived with that system for decades and it can ruin you financially.)

I also have a sneaky feeling that the SQ difference between a Lyngdorf and bluesound powernode may not actually be that great.

Get changed and take everything out of the garage, see what can be chucked. I had a new roof installed a few months back and need to put the foam in between the roof and the wall then put everything back (apart from what needs throwing) Hopefully will be therapeutic

I'm not so sure the Health Service is underfunded, there's too much red tape, too many high earners whose jobs are nothing to do with medical care. Not only that we allow foreigners free care, don't tell me we charge them for medical treatment because they are long gone before a reminder bill goes out, Ladies coming to the uk just to have their babies, it's bloody free. The NHS should not be paying for invalidity cars for people, it was set up to give the British people medical care when they are ill, not to fund them going out shopping. I'm sure there is a damn lot more wasted tax payers money, but in my opinion the NHS needs sorting/simplifying with less pen pushers. One more thing, anyone causing trouble in the Emergency Unit on a Friday/Saturday night due to drink should be thrown out and not treated, we've got to have security guards at hospitals now, whatever next. There, that's got it off my chest

I think that there is a law which says you can only clean out your garage on a Sunday.
I've never known anyone even consider doing it on any other day of the week.

Very please your better half is on the mend Steve, I'm sure she will appreciate your gesture of giving up the hifi in the main room and I'm sure something tasteful can be purchased which will be truly listenable. PM sent

I think they are underfunded…
