Very moving to be in Rivesaltes as it has a somewhat dark past The Rivesaltes camp was established as a military facility in 1936 in the Pyrenees-Orientales area near France’s border with Spain. It served as a camp for those displaced during the Spanish Civil War during the 1930s, and later as a prison for refugees on the losing side of that conflict. The Vichy regime created special camps to roundup Jews and “undesirable refugees.” Rivesaltes was perhaps the most active transit camp. The first internees arrived there on January 7, 1941. When it reached its peak population that year, Rivesaltes had 8,000 prisoners, an estimated 3,000 of whom were children (who were separated from their mothers). Thousands of Jews were shipped from Rivesaltes to Auschwitz. During one three-month period in 1942, nine convoys carried 2,313 Jews to Auschwitz. The camp was closed in November 1942 and the approximately 1,000 internees remaining were sent to Gurs, with the exception of the gypsies, who were deported to the Camp of Saliers. After World War II, Rivesaltes was used as a prisoner of war camp for captured Germans. Later it was a camp for Algerians who fought against the French in the Algerian War. www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/rivesaltes-transit-camp#google_vignette

Pondering a new Paradise build, balanced output buffer, 64db gain and maybe a modified elma switch for cart loading.

went to see a 60`s ground floor flat for a disabled friend . absolutely ideal as parking but so much work needed . got a low lease so cash only .had that horrible stippled artex on the walls but that will just be painted . perplexed me slightly as had an old potterton boiler with a newish massive water heater [ electric ] separately . the fuse board was original bakelite with fuse wire ... happy days !

10 tons of high grade stone for subbase of drive arrived today and guys put in block paving edging . the delivery driver was somewhat shocked at how deep they have excavated , about 3 times deeper than many of the guys who do it
Continued packing up books and stamps to send to BHF by post from a deceased house

Today has been brisk, busy, fun, entertaining and hard graft all in the last 10 hours!
Moved 1/3 of a tonne of equipment from the demo rooms to yet more new storage, a few trips! The trip also recieved some new items lol, trip to the suppiles in Oxford, starting making a brand new analogue cable design to go with the new amplifiers, (going to be a long job) mains cable carcasses 12 of them constructed, my new gearbox map arrived, installed that, cleint demo literally just left.
Demo room 1 has never looked so organised lol, more tomorrow
New speakers changing daily and shaping up to deliver stellart performnace that is going to shale up this section of the market and way beyond.

went to Record Store Day. Only by coincidence as I'd been planning to go record shopping anyway and I didn't find out it was today until this morning.
There was a queue to get in! Two at a time but I know the bloke so he let me in unsupervised.
Didn't buy any RSD stuff as it was all, well, records* but did get a good haul of s/h CDs including an original release of 'Aja'
*There were some RSD CDs and I quite fancied the 2 CD De La Soul live in New York, but when I asked about them he said, 'CDs? I didn't order in any of them!'

That makes me bloody old! Anyway, massive queue and suggested up to 2 hour wait to go in! Popped back a few times during the day but all the same. Got there after the football (2-1 to us😁) and they were just closing. Bagged the Melys album I wanted and was tempted into buying a Super Furry Animals one too. Followed up with pint of Brains Dark and a curry at vege Indian restaurant. Great day👍

I'm amazed at how much interest there is in RSD.
I would never have believed there would be people queueing up for it. Especially round here.
I have seen reports that some people were queueing for days. Maybe they were flippers, but even so, that's hard core just to make a few quid.
The shop I go to is a disaster really, there's so much stock piled everywhere you can barely get in the door. It needs a place at least twice as large so it could all be laid out properly, but the owner is totally unconcerned. Which is fair enough, it's his life and his business.
I'd love to buy the whole lot off of him and set up a proper shop. I'm convinced it would be a goldmine, as well as a lot of fun to do.

What really shocks me, is the increasing value of cassettes!

What really shocks me, is the increasing value of cassettes! Now that really is inexplicable. I loved cassette decks - lots of lights and buttons - but just a dreadful medium. And yes, I have heard it sound very good - once or twice - but even so, some things should just never come back.

Always wanted a Nakamichi Dragon for years and now I could have one I've no use for it which is a bit gutting.
Had many happy sessions just listening to cassette, back when I was on the dole and buying records was just out of the question. Can of super-strength lager and a few chargers and you don't worry that much about wild pitch variation or the noise being higher than the signal.

oddly enough I was shpowing a client the pictuires last week and noticed it was up for sale at 450K, great space and peace easy motorway access as well plus the locals at the Railway pub lol Just buyer beware it's a Grade II listed and its a heat sink even back that the heating oil bill was just bitting four figures a month. Those six folding doors on ther main room gave to be arched (you can use bouble glazing pabnels but the doors have to be built from scartch we were quoted serioous coinage just for those. Great place BUT just consider the listings and heating bills!

flip thats cheap at 450k !!! might give it a miss due to the heating bills !! During the winter you put up a tent in the middle of the main room and just heat inside of that In the summer months you have the run of the house.
