It's hard for me to regret much because I usually just buy stuff back.......But then there are those very rare items and also nice examples you can't regain. Hers a few of mine.
Regret:
My Glastonbury IIs. Absolute minters and fully boxed. Still the least distorted, cleanest and clearest speakers I have heard.
Spica Angelus. One of only 6 pairs imported into the UK and two have been trashed, Near mint and gorgeous.
Analogue works Turntable One. I was the first, or one of the first to buy this super deck at its giveaway introductory price. A brand new deck for about a fifth of what it sells for now, and I sold it. One of my dumbest moves.
My firsts Linn Kans. Spellbinding little gems, unmatched by any of the near 50 pairs that followed. They went to Germany so I'm unlikely to see them again,
My old Exposure 3 and 4. I sold these to Yomanze when I headed out of the U.K. Why didn't I just store them with a mate?
My mk1 Krell KSA 50. The best power amp I have owned or heard, pure magic. I even contacted the guy I sold it to and tried to rebuy, but he'd sold it on (probably fit double what I sold it for).
My ES14s. Bought new and carried home on the train from York. Pristine and boxed when I sold them to a guy named Arnold Studley. He's probably long since passed away but he was a real gent and it was good to know they went to such a nice chap.
Glad to be shot of
Kelvin Labs Absolute Zero and M30 monoblocks. About as po-faced and humourless as hifi gets.
Heybrook HB1. Horrible midband hardness made things like Karen Carpenter painful. Vile speakers.
Musical Fidelity MC4. Someone was having a laugh when these were made and it was never the poor sod who bougt them. Pour some treacle in your ears and stuff some cotton wool on top. Now put on a pair of ear muffs. Smashing! Now you don't need to buy MC4s. You're already there!
Philips CD840. Limp, dead and lashings of distortion. I bought this POS new on hifi mags rave reviews.
