That's where we differ then because if I can achieve the look I'm not that bothered about the authenticity. I mean it would be cool but as you said those original pieces will cost a bomb even if you can find them for sale. Plus they would have to be in mint condition. Little nicks and scratches or any ageing marks at all and it would bother me. And you.
New or old would have to look perfect in every detail or there's no point bothering.

I know. So can be scuffed, scratched or discoloured. Especially after 40 years. I'd rather have a perfect replica than a tatty real one.

Plastic is easy unless its split. You can fine sand that type of plastic to take the yellowing away, Just go down in grades of wet & dry till you are onto cream polishing. I did one years ago, took me months but was like new when id done it.

The yellowing of that White plastic is caused by UV light reacting with the Molecules in the plastic.
