Been watching Michael Fremer's upload of the show.
The Schiit Audio room gets some respect from me, because their prices are not rip-off. But the rest of the other rooms just screams snake-oil to me.

I personally hate Silver it looks cheap to me. Every time i look at my new Pooter Monitor i think the same but they do not make it in anything else.

They do a couple of black models..
I like to see silver Knobs on black Fascias, I put a anodised silver knob on my black headphone amplifier. Looks cool

Seriously, exactly the same is happening to Audio as it did to Motorcycles. We are being priced out of the game.
Could fall of my Norton, get up kick it straight and ride it home. Then fix it back to new on a second year apprentice's pay packet, and still have enough left to get pissed, and do it again.

As a bonus this year the show is being brought to us from the amusingly titled 'Gaylord Rockies Resort and Convention Center.' Only in America. Legal Mary ju wanna is available though so this really must count as the king of shows in pretty much every respect. |

I knew it is legal in Colorado. Also there's another show report where they were indulging. Which I read earlier but can't find now. |

When are they going to start playing MUSIC at these shows rather than the sterile sanitised jazzy crap I keep hearing? I was at show once where they played some Steely Dan. Katy Lied. Yes that's right, music with more than two instruments playing at once! System was very, very expensive. As in 3 bed detached in Surrey expensive. And it sounded terrible. Really bad. So the answer to your question is never. Never ever. |

There was a couple of good-uns at the last one I went to. Big money though. The other twenty or so I heard were mostly ear-splitting cack or just a bit cack. Except Audionote which was just Audionote.

NOOO! Cant play real music on them overpriced systems. They only play Dianna Krall and other things like Bat's farting in the rafters, equipment getting kicked on stage, matches striking, and other sound effects. It is not about music chaps, it is about retrieving the utmost detail, and the equipment looking good for the most amount of money. Oh and the brand, everything is about the brand, the lifestyle, and your image. Got my ass kicked out of a demo once, cause I slipped on a bad recording, they had a fit. "Cant play that on here. no you just cant". "Gee guys, a system is only as good as to how good it makes your worst recording sound". "Heresy! - Get out"!  |
