Mine was about 15 years ago.
Ariston 'RD11 Superiour' Turntable with Fidelity Research 'FR64s' arm, Dynavector 'Karat 17D2'.. The cantilever was snapped off but got it all for £80 E-Bay..House clearance.
Sold the deck for £150, The Arm to a guy in Germany for £500, £200 for the cart.. Had one of those FR arm before on a Logic 'DM101' they were killar build quality. Only down side was the adjustment VTA Grub screw used to put an impression in the mounting pillar.

My only biggest audio bargain was paying £2.80 for Mordaunt Short Pageant Series II. This was in 2012.

Rare for me to buy anything unless it is a bargain. I'm very good at tracking down a cheap deal!

Leak TL10 for £15. Lowther Acoustas plus an additional pair of PM&A drivers, £30. Minty Technics SL1200 - £200. Off of Roy of this parish. That was before prices went right up for them though. I do love the look of that deck even though I don't use it anymore.

Tannoys and Garrards?
Well I'm with you on Garrards, although they can sound half decent if you spend like a billion pounds on them. Mind you that's true of most record decks.

I’m like Geoff in that I only buy bargains. My favourite right now is the TransRotor Classic Gold for £200.

Wharfedale Diamond 10.1's brand new in the box for 50 quid. Wharefdale Crystal 2-40's with a pair of the 2-30's thrown in with the deal, both for 50 quid brand new boxed. Surprisingly good sounding both of them, despite the cheap build, and a tweeter that looks like it belongs in an Indian car still using a tape deck. Never seen such a nasty looking thing.
And OFC the Line Magnetic 211IA amp from the the agents at 650 quid, it does everything well I cant fault it. And it drives any speaker you care to throw at it with ease.
Various other scores from the pawn shops. If you look you find.
