Back to how it was manufacturing our own goods. Buying Foreign good as a pure luxury only. Ban the manufacture of goods in China which is the same as my opening request.
Ban Zero contract hours Back to 40 Hours working week Shop stewards in every work place, People do a designated job & that job only. Stops the company taking the piss out of the work force. Government needs to get their act together regarding Dole scroungers. No homeless people that genuinely should not be.. Make it easier to get them back to normal ie: Job & home.
One moan: The endless amount of Charities literally begging for money on a weekend, Every time i go in the supermarket at weekend they are at the end of the Tills like Soldiers.

We do manufacturer a lot in this country, 8th largest manufacturing nation in the world. It just doesn't employ millions of people like it used to. In fact with a couple of minor blips manufacturing output in this country has increased every year since the start of the industrial revolution and we now make more stuff than ever.
And zero hour contracts are nothing new, I was doing them in the early 1990s and my grandfather was doing them on the docks in the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s. The only new thing about them is that middle-class lefties have only just discovered they exist.

I work 1 or 2 days per week, zero hours contract, and that really suits me, although I am not in favour of it really. What I really object to are 12 hour shifts, all these health and safety rules and yet they are willing to let people work when they are tired. One thing I would really like to see is a complete overhaul of the NHS. I honestly do not know what you do about the homeless. Maybe we should try to help more, but there will always be some who don't want to be part of society. I would change the law and bring in Minimum rather than Maximum sentences for crimes. There would be no remission for good behaviour, rather extending sentences for trouble makers. The top 100 crimes and their sentences would be published every month in newspapers, tv adverts, posters, so there would be no excuses. I would bring back the death sentence for certain cases. I have no objection to charities, I give to those mainly taking care/saving animals.

Its the charities that i have never heard of. Id rather carry on giving what i give to the ones i know. I just do not want it in my face on every corner i pass & the supermarket checkout. I even went to Ikea last week & on paying for my goods he asked if i wanted to contribute to a charity i have never heard of! Way too many charities for my liking.
Death Sentence for deffo want bringing back but it got stopped for a reason!
If someone offered me 12 Hour shifts 5 Days a week it would be like winning the lottery.

I don't know your financial position or age Andre, but that would be doing 60 hours pw. I would like to see how you felt after doing that for 6 months. I would just ignore and walk by any charity I did not know.

Not worked for ten years. Don't need to, I am of independant means.
Was a white collar shop steward for twenty five years, so did my bit.
Foreign dole scroungers should F#ck off and claim whatever benefits they can get in their own country.
Many homeless choose to be so.
I don't give to charities. Their chief execs all drive home each night in a plush car.
Oh. And as for death sentences. Great idea and well deserved by some no doubt. But you only have to get it wrong once and top the wrong bloke to invalidate the whole thing! And don't say it'd never happen 'cos it has!

Well Shane if feel the same about people living off the Tax payer!! However where cats are concerned i give to charity. I utterly refuse to give to a charity that is interested in Kids of a foreign country. What about out Kids!
The trouble with homeless is picking out the ones that want help & the ones that are happy to be none part of society. I often bollock the wife for giving them money in the street. I tell her No No No.

Your comment is simply a disgrace to every decent human being who cares Shane. Maybe you ought to think about not posting on this forum, find a more suitable one were you will be with like-minded idiots who know F..all about hifi.

Not sure where you've worked but that's taking folk back to the dark ages.
All my jobs/companies I've worked in since 1980 had folk that absolutely didn't want to be locked into one specific job. Kills any sort of flexibility and desire to progress. I can see there may well be industries where that approach may suit someone that wants to turn up, do a job, go home and repeat for the next 40 years. Most folk I've met wouldn't want that.

I say this based on the company i work for. Members of staff are employed to do a specific job & that is all they want to do. The management are very crafty & get them doing another job in addition that is not there job but one that other lazy people never did. The job they do is hard enough without being pressurised to do another swell.
Paying one person to do two peoples job is not on imho.

Forcing folk to do twice as much? Are they doing 80 hours of work in a 40 hour week as that's one person doing two people's jobs. If it only takes 20 hours to do your work in a week then yep, I'd expect to be given something else to do....

I’m leaving posts above but I want folk to cool it from here. It’s a hifi forum with a bit of off topic content for fun. It’s not Jerry Springer the musical.

The balance has shifted too much in favour of the employer.

I can assure you they are taking the piss. Staff are literally running around racing against time. A poor girl who works in the morning was literally wet thru rushing about..Shes considering leaving because of it all. No one should be pressurised to work like this. There is more than one health & safety issue arising for a start.

I know from personal experience about being asked to do more work so staff numbers can be cut. The pressure can be immense.

& that is exactly what it is, Hours are cut, staff are leaving. I do not work in the same department but they rely on me, they moan to me. My daily hours have been cut by an hour a day but they expect the same work, Only thing i thank them for it was a contributing factor to my weight loss, i did not need to work out after work
I do not moan i just get pissed off & think lad you have only 15 more years which time does fly.

some places are like that, most places I've worked (which is a lot!) were not.
Worked long hours, don't need to anymore thankfully. Where I am now I could do 2 hours overtime a day and another 4 hours Saturday morning if I wanted. That's 14 extra hours a week at £19 an hour. But I can't be arsed anymore. I'd go part time if I could.

Ok I did say I wanted it to calm down and it’s clearly not, so it’s now locked
Edit: As the offending post was removed by the poster just as I went to lock this, I will unlock again, but I’m not wasting my evening refereeing this stuff. Behave like adults or it gets binned. That means observing the rules, particularly not playing the man. If you don’t follow the rules you can choose whether go or be banned, but you won’t carry on here. Last warning.

Gentlemen,
This thread will be closed if continual breaches of the rules continue.
This is an inclusive forum. Its irrelevant here whether you work or don't.
Whilst this kind of topic is bound to bring out the inner 'Alf Garnet' in some, others won't feel the same way.
No more digs at anyone please, or I'll lock it down and delete the thread.
