What seems like a long time ago now, I did a huge polypropylene capacitor bake off. I tried everything from 10p Chinese made caps to some pretty chingy Mundorfs and the like.
At the time, I didn't reveal the winner of the bake off due to reasons that don't matter anymore so, what won my affections?
Signal Path caps by Le Clenche.
However, not long after, they seemed to go out of stock. Seems there is a new version so I'll be trying a couple soon
So, what's your "brand"

An unfortunate name. I have this image of a Frebachman from Allo Allo walking with his butt-cheeks constantly closed.

I don't know. I've only upgraded caps in speaker crossovers from electrolytic to polyprop - a long time ago - I fancied there was a subtle change in the sound.

Interesting as I have to choose some caps for an 'end game' preamp. The Le Clanche caps are actually Swiss but the Allo Allo reference is good.

To be fair didn't have the budget to explore the really expensive stuff like bees wax and paper. As far as the cost of each cap, the most expensive were the Mundorf supreme. I imagine there is better out there still but not at my price level.

For signal and psu caps I buy on specification, for xo duties its usually what will fit in the box.
I've replaced crap with clarity cap, then with better CC then mundorf, then all the way up to silver and gold supreme in oil.
I dont think any of them beyond basic poly are worth the effort, half an ohm here and there in the xo makes as much if not more difference imo.

I recall in the old World Designs days they would caution against using Black gates and Mundorfs and so forth for everything due to running into the 'too much of a good thing' phenomena. Les from Avondale said it is analogous to adding herbs and spices to a curry. You have to know how to blend them in to get the result you want.

Just a sufficient quality one and CC do good work.
