On a trip to Alan's recently, I came across this little amplifier. I scoffed at it and told Alan to flog it. We modded my 686, Alan played a few sample tracks via his MingDa Piccolo and we did a little comparison between the two. When we'd finished Alan said "let's just try this (proart) , I haven't even plugged it in yet" Well, what a shocker. It was fantastic! We were both a little dumbstruck to be fair. SO how much do these amps cost? Well if you're quick £40. BRAND NEW due to excess stock lol. That's what Grant over on AOS uses. Yes, that's where it came from. It was in need of repair so Alan sorted it out and it's a little cracker. I'd like to spend longer with it to come to a conclusion but the track we listened to was very well handled by the proart. As you can see, the MingDa is for sale so I think that's pretty telling?! |

I guess it could also be used as a one input integrated amplifier? Cerainly looks nice.
Just had another look, can it be used as a stereo or mono amp?

How old was it and should I be scared of connecting decent speakers to it for fear of a DC blowout? if it's just the use of Sh#t caps then ok, I'll sort it, but what else?

Well according to Alan, there wasn't any thing wrong that he could find so he checked it out for any issues, found none so we plugged it in and all was well. It came to him as spares or repair from Grant on AoS. |
