If you have 13 min to spare, check this video out. Sadly I've never heard any version of the Klipsch Heresy. But I used to lust after the Heresy III some years back.

I really enjoyed his ramble in the same way I’d sit and watch a drunk look for an argument before falling off his bar stool and throwing up all over himself. Is he actually drunk? I reckon there’s a better than even chance. Here’s what I learned:
If you love Diana Krall singing ACapella the Heresies are great! You might need to gag the musicians on other stuff though. Some classical music goes up past 25khz (obviously not on CD lol) 50hz to 17khz = Sh#t If you want to know the worst speaker company in the world....might be Klipsch....if your a drunk nutter The final word is never the final word when you’re pissed!
Hilarious stuff. Klipsch should use it as a promo lol

I just remembered how we all laughed when we heard the Heresy's - like a VERY LOUD transistor radio later Klipsh babies with copper coloured cones were better balanced, but still totally uncouth up top as I remember. I have to say an early noughties issue of the Klipshorns placed seemingly too far apart in the long wall corners of a slightly rectangular room sounded absolutely wonderful - Quad 99 driven too! If they had a 'sound' at all, it was no worse than Quad 57's properly set up (ever so slightly nasal in comparison with normal speakers) and they 'did' string tone beautifully and unlike a very old pair of KH's I heard years ago driven by multi-valved Croft OTL's, they didn't annihilate modern multi-track rock at all. So deep respect where due, although the KH's are far too big for most UK rooms..

Image height is a deal breaker for me. I don’t fancy listening to a transistor radio either.

TonyL over on PFM loves the Heresy's. He describes them as giant Linn Kans.

Do you REALLY want that sound?
Easy really. For a given box size, you either have a very efficient speaker with little bass (unless the box is huge), or rather less efficiency but with some bass. The Heresy is the former designed when a powerful amp was valved and probably little more than 15WPC and still fitted with old fashioned rectangular horn shapes with no wave-guiding at all, as JBL for instance have done so very well. Today, they're a novelty and owned by retro-philes or forum members who account for a tiny percentage of the remaining audio buying public (there's still a few and these are mostly better heeled than to look at old relics like this box).
