We have one here, Walpurgis is the name. Arse-licker. Haha! He is a guru on speaker stuff, especially repairs

My god they are hideous. Do they have an agent because I can get them work on the new season of Doctor Who? Talk about having the children hiding behind the settee. They will traumatise them for life.
Please put a bag over them before someone calls the Police. An acoustically transparent bag ofc.

The thing about beauty is that not only is it in the eye of the beholder but it's also relative too. Wanna see something really ugly? Never heard them but they are supposed to be very good and the design is clever. Looks are never a deal breaker for me but I'd make an exception for them. No way would I have that in my room.

Mr Kipling must be feeling repulsed S. Not really. I don't have to live with them. We've been here before. I would never bring myself to buy something purely on sonics alone. There has to have some visual appeal to it. Which is why I went for one of these yesterday. And why I got the two Audioromy amps I have: I have some Mordaunt Short Carnival 3s, with the socks. Fancy replacing the ones fitted with oatmeal ones.

now to me they are ugly, the speakers look like they've been made from the top of a cheap, tacky repro regency dinning table. whats the other thing? a games console?

Just the response I expected - which was why I posted them. So predictable.
Speakers actually look far more presentable in the flesh, than you might imagine. And their sound? You wouldn't believe it if I told you.
The top is obviously known to anyone with a certain level of knowledge of things Hi-Fi. Obviously, that would exclude you. It's the quite-sort-after Roksan ROK DP1 transport. The words "Iconic" & "Classic" are usually attached to it.
Hope the enlightenment is helpful.

I wouldn't buy them, then.
As they say:
You can please some of the people all of the time, all of the people some of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time.
I thank you.
P.S. My cakes aren't half as Sh#t as your grammar.

At least we can all agree that the Vivid Gayas are uglier than any of them.
I like the Roksan Transport. That's tasty.
I think the best looking speaker in the worlds is the Yahmama NS1000M. In Piano Black. With the grilles off. If it came with them. I have no idea why, I just do.
We don't get to choose what we like or dislike.

If you had got the Pageant 3s for a tenner, you would have got a real bargain. My mate got a pair of the Carnivals in 1982 when they came out and on the end of a Rega 3 and Nait 1in a sparsely furnished room about 5x6 with concrete floor, they sounded pretty spectacular. Playing Pink Floyd's Time, is was easy to close your eyes suspend disbelief and imagine there was actually a Grandfather clock in the room chiming.
Another photo shows them in a different light. Not as ugly as they appeared at first, I have to admit.

I've only ever seen the Carnival & Festival 3s for sale on eBay. I have the Carnival 3s but have yet to try them as I never had leads until recently and didn't bother with speakers, just headphones, but really fancy the Festivals.

I'd start with 0.1uF or 0.2uF and go bigger until you get the results you like. Some may say those values are too small, but I can hear the effect with them.

With cap values that small, you're letting so little power through, you'll do no harm. Just don't bypass the ribbon matching transformer, that's the little box under the terminal plate.
