The 'dac for a fiver' that used to be available in one form or another on ebay was a bit of fun as well, even with a basic wall-wart 5VDC supply.

Turntables? Pro-ject do something that plays records for £150. No idea if it's any good. The Rega Planar 1 is better finished than ever and has wonderful after-care should it be needed - it's £250 and i feel the 'sound' is very good.

Speakers? I think Q Acoustics probably is one to seriously look at, as the build, finish and basic sound quality is in a different world from some of the stuff we sold back in the 80's and 90's.

yep
only paid 600 quid for my full gyro with qc power supply..latest stand alone motor model aswell
from some mofo in wembley about 4 weeks before we left the uk.
worth more than double that now.. some kit is actually an investment..
u buy a gyro it will last forever..plus u have superb after sales company in michell.
