You've doubled up on the 75 link. Very good package for £1500, though you could try the Lenco original arm first.

It was looking good until the last line item.

It was looking good until the last line item. I just wouldn’t want any of them if I’m honest. DIY, modded, vintage etc. All red flags for me. Even Hana carts don’t excite me. The Lencos I’ve seen have been horrid things I wouldn’t have in the house. Each to their own though.

It would not be my 1st choice but the Lencos I have heard have sounded absolutely fine for the cost involved.

I know we are all different (be blooming awful if we were all the same) but you really need to hear a well set up Lenco. Mine for instance.

I have heard yours. I am sure it is even better now. Funnily enough, the SL1200 is not top of my list either, but it will do for now.....

A 2M black, a Rega of some sort and a Valab LCR could be put together in that budget. A Goldring Legacy, Inspire Quest and Soneteer There are loads of ways to make a really good sounding Vinyl system. Point is, it ain't got to be mega money

I probably did choose an extreme example, but that is one horrid job. Looks like a bit of spare counter top, a floorboard and some repurposed pallets. The other boxes look like reused vintage junk too. Those banana shaped arms are vile as well. Trust the emporium to want over 2k. You could buy a used Oracle or Orbe for that. Many other great decks for less.

I've only ever heard one Lenco that I'd rate as 'good' and that was so modified you wouldn't recognise it as a Lenco. Otherwise they are okay but all idlers tend to have a 'thuddy' sort of sound that gets a bit wearing on me.
And any belt drive I've ever heard is out for me, even Linn or Rega top of the range, they just don't hold the pitch well enough. Once you hear it you can't help but notice it. Not just with piano but in the bass too.
I admit I am fussy but 'good' for me means just that. Not 'adequate' or 'acceptable.'

So, ugly turntables aside..... Been putting some mileage on this today...another 3hrs actually Its definitely changed in character in the last couple if hours. We've hit a rather smooooooth point but without loss of detail or energy. I think this probably isnt far off being ready for a serious listen.

Cant wait for the review! It's in the works. I am writing as i listen and trying to be a thorough as possible. It has the potential to be quite a long winded affair so i may trim it a fair bit first.

Does a “serious listen” involve a particular pose and facial expression?

Ha 99 pence, brilliant.
Went to put air in the tyres yesterday, not used a forecourt pump in a long time, still under the impression it would be 20p.
A POUND! Just to put air in your tyres! Luckily I sneaked in after the person in front before the compressor turned off, lol.

It's free chez Cagey, as I have a compressor with a calibrated tyre inflator.

Been mega busy today and ended up rushing the bastardizing of my PecanPi. I broke the connecter off my SSD's USB to Sata cable. What a pisser. Anyway, as you can see from the truly terrible photo, i have separated the PecanPi from Pi and moved it about 2" inches away. May not seem much but i wanted to try and its all i had to work with. Unfortunately, i cant do a comparison because my spare, but different Usb to Sata cable seems to sound horrific. Yes, i know. I must me mad but honestly, it sounds awful. I have gone back to streaming from Jriver via the router and it sounds far far better. Anyway, new cable ordered.
