The great thing about the Control 1's is that unlike a lot of newer JBL gear you don't get exagerated bass which is exactly what I needed as I'll be using this little system in a holiday flat that has neighbours above, what you do get is a nice clean sound and the bass you do get is as clear as a bell.
I bought my nephew one of the bigger JBL wireless speakers that cost double what the Breeze Audio/Control 1's cost and though it's decent enough and he loves it's big exaggerated bass it's a bit much and that booming bass just overpowers much of the midrange and the higher frequencies so that your missing out on much of what the artist recorded.

I'm enjoying JBL Control 1's with TPA3116, source is an Astell and Kern JR. Got the JBL's on brackets on the wall.

If it's possible I'm thinking of building a totally portable battery powered portable system with my little TPA3116 amp would two 12v batteries similar to the ones I use to power a phono stage obviously they will deliver 24v to the chip amp but how long will they last with the amp driving JBL Control 1's?

You can run the 3116 amps on 12V but with less output power of course. As the amps are very efficient the battery life is going to be very much dependent on the volume you play at.

Thanks again Alan, The volume will be very moderate. I'm not a huge fan of wireless speakers and would much prefer a small portable real stereo the TPA3116 with bluetooth receiver and JBL Control 1's would be ideal. I'm replacing them with a modified Planar 2, Naim Nait 5 and Dynaudio Audience 52's.

Finally got my Breeze Audio TPA3116, I'm running this on a Ankar battery with variable power output. This amp is just crazy how the hell do you get so much power out of that tiny little box? Delivered for under £20, it'll now stay in the collection.

I have one in the garage system and quite often I'm working away and it'll grab my attention. Very pleased with mine.

It's good for the money, amazing even, but I wouldn't class it as good in general. I'd guess it has about ten watts in it before it starts clipping. Possibly less. I'd take some old budget good'un like a NAD 3020 over it any day of the week.

I've a NAD 3020 sitting in my attic, the TPA3116 takes up no space and just produces music for background listening. I just couldn't be arsed setting the NAD up or going into the attic!

I was offered one for £40 a couple of weeks ago and I could probably have knocked him down a bit. I can't say I could have any love for the chip amp even though it was more than adequate for the price and size. A 3020 looks and feels like a proper amplifier, it doesn't slide about the shelf when you turn up the volume - there's some pride of ownership and pleasure of use there. I'm with the erstwhile 'Westie' on that.
