No, they're just plain commercial, often small volume concerns wanting to remain in business in a volatile marketplace that's still full of better off people! I have to say one thing - there really is a tier of people who do have the dosh to splash out on their stereo's. I can't be jealous of these chaps (usually fellas) as I suspect that money was hard earned in many cases, or maybe inherited as most audiophile types are 50+ (maybe even 60+) these days it seems from very recent experience. The few I've chatted to in recent times are really nice people as well and love their music, although I suspect more than one needs a 'deal' to seal the outlay. If it makes them happy.....

I will say I could even hear the difference through my laptop. I dare say. It's a fix and intended to sound different. Shame it's just a con!

I don't know if it is, we recently replaced a more than decent Russ Andrews power cord with one my brother purchased a few years ago called Okutso Denko into his dac, and it certainly made an improvement. The reason we had not used it was because it came fitted with a 16A IEC socket to use with an Audio Research pre amp. I changed this to the normal 13A one just to be able to use the cable.

Out of all the cable foo, I find power cables the maddest. What on earth is a foo mains cable supposed to do? It's the last metre of a 10+ minimum run from the nearest transformer, through a cheap-as-chips consumer unit and twin and earth to the socket on the wall. Now if ALL of that path was super high quality cable, I could subscribe to a cheap kettle lead making a hash of the incoming mains, but not the other way around.

I'd use any inheritance to buy a home with a good room to listen in with a decent view - or a few crates of decent spirits/wine/beer/whatever enhances your listening experience, rather than a better kettle lead.
