In relation to another thread abou thing we have regretted selling, I got to thinking about items I tried to buy, missed out on and then ultimately never got round to getting.
What have you missed out on that you really think would've been good?
For me, there a couple:
Bobs Device Cinemag SUT - Had on loan, a cracker of a SUT and one of very few I rate highly. Miscommunication with the seller meant I never bought it.
Luxman AD8000 SUT - I've lusted for one of these badboys for years. Good from 10-100hz with 0.05%THD IIRC and wound with Silver. One of the best SUTs around IMO. I waited months for (Geoff's?) one to come up after being tipped off that it would be for sale soon. When it finally come up, I was skint and missed it. Last week, another popped up and guess what......New Driveway, new wall and basic pay at work due to my injuries, meant I missed out again. Gutted
Ortofon Vienna - Phonomac (Angus) had been on a spree and bought a couple of new cartridges. One he thought would dislodge the Vienna from his system. An ART7. I loaned the Vienna and as always, it was divine. However, it had a wonky cantilever. The price to buy it was £400. Not bad for a £2k+ cart when new. I decided I couldn't risk the money on a wonky cantilevered cartridge and bought his Kb instead. Angus sent the Vienna to Holistic Audio and had It repaired and improved for £400. Its the best cartridge I have heard and again, missed out. £800 total spend and I didn't gamble. What a tit.
Multiple Tannoys - Yep, Most types that regularly appear seem to do so when I can't buy them to try them. The main ones being the Mayfair 225's. I am drawn to their more compact design and I do still have an itch to scratch so a set of monster Tannoys may be on the agenda at some point.
I'm sure thee are more so i'll add them as I go.

Might have been me that bought the Luxman SUT first time. It was very good but the Tribute I bought later beat both that and a Hashimoto. Still wish I’d kept it though, rare as rocking horse poo.

I did have the Luxman SUT and it is rare, but not as rare as Osawa OS-100T that I kept.

As for missing out. Don't think I have. I've always ended up owning every bit of Hi-Fi I've sought (eventually).

Geoff, ive still never seen one of those up for sale. Rare is definitely accurate.
I wished id got that AD8000 when it was available. I have a feeling they will only rise in value over time when folk realise how well specced they are

Geoff, ive still never seen one of those up for sale. Rare is definitely accurate. That's why I kept it...........exclusivity! Well, that and the fact it sounds superb.

Rotel Michi passive pre-amp and the matching power amp. Maybe you had a lucky escape rather than a missed opportunity Martin. I had the Michi power amp and it wasn't much to get excited about to be absolutely honest and don't hanker after another to be sure.

My father used to have Rotel Michi with matching passive preamp. Lovely build quality/construction. The sound was pleasant enough but nothing to write home about. YMMV.

I just always fancied them, that's all. I know they've had mixed reviews over the years.
You read reviews over the years when you're poor and then you get a few quid and the chance to actually find out if your heroes had feet of clay.

Nothing in the hi fi sphere really, but plenty of missed opportunties/bad choices elsewhere in my life.
