Today, I managed to drop a 1p squarely into the 12v charger port in the motor. Obviously this resulted in a blown fuse and almost as perfectly, the fuse box is behind the glove box.
After a quick search online, I find the perfect method of removing the glovebox and...... Wait a minute! What do we have here?
CDs!
They aren't mine, they must have been the previous owners. Some David Bowie, Kings Of Leon and the Fratellis amongst others.
The Fratellis - Costello Music, was selected as I recalled giving it a quick listen upon release and not really taking it in.
Well, to be honest, I kinda wished I hadn't because even though that had a few elements of hit songs... like catchy riffs, decent song craft and a decent vocalist.
However, the lyrics are absolute fucking nonsense. I mean, I didn't seem to be be able to understand any meaning in a single song and half of it made no sense. Seriously, google a couple of the tracks and you'll see what I mean.
SO, who else is guilty of such shitehousery. Oasis were pretty good at saying nothing in particular, Ocea Colour Scene like to repeat the same words like "know" almost as to say "you aren't really listening"
If this is what happens when you branch out from the masters of this craft like lennon and McCartney, Dylan etc then I'll stay with what I know.

Couldn’t resist. They were the Spice Girls of the 1960s AFAIC.

The Ketchup song was pretty duff lyrically but it was catchy.

Much prefer indecipherable lyrics to the straight-ahead variety. I think that is one of the reasons Oasis were so successful. if the lyrics don't mean anything then the listener can impose his own meaning and the song then matters to them a lot more.
You've also got your situations where the meaning of the lyrics is obvious but people still misinterpret them. Recall in the 198Os many lovey-dovey couples staring into each other's eyes when Bryan Adams' 'Run To You' was playing even though it's about a bloke having an affair.
Also met born again Christians who think Genesis' 'Jesus He Knows Me' is about Phil's special relationship with the almighty and not a rant against evangelist preachers. Goes right over their heads.

What are these lyrics about?
Some turnout, a hundred grand Get with it we'll shake his hand Don't bother to understand Don't question the little man Be part of the brotherhood Yes it's chain lightning It feels so good Hush brother, we cross the square Act natural like you don't care Turn slowly and comb your hair Don't trouble the midnight air We're standing just where he stood It was chain lightning It feels so good

Add to that Republican politicians in the USA thinking 'Born in the USA' is a patriotic song.

Yes that is another good one.
Then you've got Okie From Muskogee where even the bloke who wrote it wasn't sure if it was a piss-take or deadly serious.

Which reminds me of Raymond Chandler's reply the time someone asked him to explain the ending of The Big Sleep. 'Hell, I don't know, and I wrote the damn thing!' (The film ending differs from the book ending, but both are fairly confusing).

When they were making the film they contacted him because they couldn't work out who killed the chauffeur and he had to confess that he didn't know either.
They couldn't do the film the same as the book back then due to pornography being a touchy subject in 1946. Great book though, I've read it a few times.
