.. And do you know something? They're bloody successful at it with millions in assets and full order books going forward very many months - far eastern markets pay up front too - so win-win! The far easterners, with differently built rooms to many of us here in the UK, absolutely fucking LOVE THEM!
Further more, the brand is evolving the tonal balance, so the bass heavy (in UK small rooms) tone is disappearing fast. I'm saying this glaring at my previous generation un-updatable 2007 issue SHL5's which sounded so musical in a lively room and so dull in my over-furnished small sitting room... Can't flog 'em just yet either, but Rudi would absolutely love 'em!
Not sure all of Linn and Naim is pretentious either, but to follow my thoughts you need to play with the current crop of very elegant and lovely to operate streaming gear. It's B&O for the unwashed

That's the point I think!
Harbeth people don't play dance music though, although the P3ESR's could manage Massive Attack's 'Karma Coma' very well as long as they weren't too loud. When I've heard them, they've usually been with Croft 25/7 amps.
Their market is the far east and I suspect timber framed rooms which can absorb bass a bit. I have to say the more recent models (5+, 30.1/30.2, 40.2) have a tauter sound but really need a powerful amp to wake the dynamics up imo. Compact 7's sound tubby, bloated and too 'phat' to me - ugh

None of that first lot would get on my list.
I'd be mostly limited to multi-thousand pound cable brands, vendors of cable lifters, small metal bowls and other bullshit.
Any brand who espouse a my-way-or-the-highway approach to audio.
