Hope all you daddies are getting pampered today and getting to watch your telly programmes for a change. I got two cards, a couple of cd's and chocolates. One card has homer simpson on the front and says kick back and relax. Inside it says...... just like every other day. Cheeky monkey.

I haven't seen or heard from my own kids for over 15 years as the ex-wife has poisoned their minds against me after the divorce.
My current wife's kids don't recognise me as their dad so father's day is a real non event for me.

To me they are a bit of an invention to get folk to spend, but if it makes folk happy I’m pleased for them.

Plus i get to have a cry about my dad (RIP) whom i loved so much.

Enjoy it if you like, but like Mother's Day, it's a tacky American import and just a commercial exercise.
My family are told to disregard it.

Nothing wrong with a day to celebrate a dad. American, tacky or otherwise, the male is often overlooked by society for the huge role they play in their children's upbringing.
I'm all for anything that praises a dad.
When my daughter was taken from me by her mother, when she walked out, the whole system was aimed at the mothers benefit.
Uphill struggle for the fathers of this world.
Personally, had a nice day just being with the wife and kids. Cinema, cooked breakfast and we moved the greenhouse together.

However in my view if a day didn't start until after the fall of the Roman empire then it's still made up nonsense. I don't do birthdays either.
