I didn't specifically say synthetic, but that's what i meant. Oli, I can bring you round a pair of LPSU powered NC400 mono's and my Mod86p, you can decide. If you like the NC400's I'm sure we can do a deal on them, if you like the Mod86 I'm sure you'd be blown away by his 686 which are an easy build.

f-kin Khozmo is now noisy as feck. I think they are the BPBP might just be mutually incompatible. The Khozmo works fine as a raw attenuator and the BPBP works with any none powered POT. I hate potentiometers with their shitty channel balance and awkward tapers.
I'm going to split the +/-13v for the BPBP and the 5v for the Khozmo from the same socket, they currently share one 5-pin LEMO.

Might be worth looking at the grounding of the vol pot chassis as well.
Anyway the TKD arrived today, better than 1% channel balance, that'll do.
Even though i know that it's only being used as a voltage divider in the BPBP and doesn't actually have signal running through it I'd swear its more bassy than the mini-alps pot. maybe it's a channel balance thing.

Maybe! The BPBP, is it a DIY affair or did you buy it. I seem to recall the front panel of a preamp being made. Was that this? Whats the appeal of it? Still available as a project?

I can lend you a Class D to cut your electricity consumption mate ..... I'm only guessing but I recon the N cores will sound the same as the B&O modules in the Wired4Sound amp I have.

Im Using that Burson thing sporadically, Al. Thanks though. The Burson is getting better now it's getting some play time. Opening up nicely.

The appeal of it is that it's a truly balanced preamp. Not just differential input and output but impedance matched pcb layout throughout. Its utterly silent in use, will drive a nail through a concrete block and has lower distortion than pretty much any commercial preamp south of some crazy swiss made 30k stuff.
You'll understand when you hear it.
