I like both the LP12 and the Xerxes. I could live with either.

I like both the LP12 and the Xerxes. I could live with either. I could at one time, and then I heard a Spacedeck and all else at this price became as gaslight for me.. I knew Touraj at the time and when I met him at a Bristol show years ago when I worked a while on the road, he offered to give me one of the trade-in decks they'd accumulated a few years before in a 'trade-up' scheme. Another opportunity missed as I should have made the effort to call in to take him up on his kind offer. Too many chances like this missed and I could kick myself now, looking back 
The one memory I have of the Roksan Xerxes is the platter finish. Polished free of finger marks, you couldn't see it rotating unless close up to it.

A guy who actually makes bearings once told me the Xerxes bearing is the best of the bunch of 80s super decks. He did explain why but it went over my head. Although I have a Sonata, a PS-6750, a revolver and a PS-X9 on the way and I just gave away an Ofbe, I still want another Xerxes more than any of them. |
