The 'baby' Marantz (1973 model 2015) is having a run out with the Heresys. Sweet and open, especially for low volume, late night listening.

That's quite a nice looking system. Thinking about trying another NVA AP10H headphone amp. But it'll most likely be a used one though. Jesus, how many AP10H's have I had, lol.
Are the Heresy III internally braced inside?

Having a set of these made for the Cube 1s... Are you sure these are going to work well with cubes? Usually used with Harbeth. I thought NVA were going to do their own pillar type in kit form.

The Cubes sound well on the light, open and rigid Torlyte. The SS stands are light (for a metal stand), open frame and rigid. I tried a very heavy pair of secondhand Atacamas filled with stuff - didn't like them. The change from Torlyte is for stability - they are 3 legged and a fairly narrow top plate, easy to topple. Now that I have a 4 legged friend, I need a 4 legged stand. I'm entirely useless at anything practical, so any kit that requires finishing off by the user would simply gather dust at my place...

They look good Karney, I have looked at Custom Design stands previously, but they were a more expensive model.
Let us know how you get on with your SS stands Savvy, I'm really interested.

I have always fancied a go on the Hereseys. Do they really need such an extreme toe-in? I don't like it myself, pretty much first thing anyone says who comes round mine is 'have you tried toeing the speakers in?' And I have, many times with many speakers but I just don't like it and it looks wrong to me as well.
Re stands, so much bollocks talked about them. 95% of a stand is getting the speaker to the right height vis a viz your ears so the best stand for a speaker is going to be determined by how tall you are and how high of the ground your seat is. Dropping the speaker down 6 inches or raising it 6 inches makes a huge difference, what the stand is made of etc makes next to none. I'm happy to use dining chairs or stools or even another speaker at a push as long as they are the right height.
Open frame vs solid stand I'll grudgingly admit makes some difference, open frame almost always better.

Probably should have said that what the stand is made of etc makes next to no difference compared to the difference it makes that it is the right height. Not that it makes no difference at all.

Anything that is written in the Hi-Fi book of 'You should Do It This Way' is Bollox to me. I go out of my way to do the reverse to what people do

I've tried pretty much all combinations of distance apart, distance from rear wall and toe in. In fairness to the Heresys they are pretty adaptable, but in this room, the bigger toe in is preferred.

A 70's Speaker that used tilt back wedge like floor mounts was the B&W 'DM2' with the optional Extra 'PLS/2' wedge Stand & KEF 'Concerto' used a optional Extra stand. Everything was low down back then.. The Original Castle Acoustics Ltd 'Conway Mk.1' & 'Howard Mk.1' both had low Metal stands bolted to the bottom of the speaker which were no more than a couple inch tall. These two speakers were also available with Queen anne Legs which again were only a few inch tall.

Suspended floor or solid? Concrete My first listening room floor was concrete and it was a big space with high ceilings. Sounded wonderful.I always assumed concrete good, wood bad. Then I had nastier concrete floor and another again. Both rooms were poor, I no longer think of them as a difference maker.

I don't know, I moved a lot in my twenties (9 different places I think) and I've had all sorts but concrete is best - provided it is well damped down. When I finally bought a house a concrete floor in the listening room was a deal-breaker for me.

The heresies have always intrigued me. Not least because I want a pair of their larger brethren,
I almost bought the pair TonyL got on PFM, and another pair on PFM before that.
The one thing that stopped me was image height. It’s an absolute deal breaker for me. It’s sank every conventional speaker I’ve owned. Not a single speaker that fires straight forward has fully satisfied me. Worst of all for image height were Royd Minstrels. I also disliked lots of other things about them but that waist-height imagery was a complete turn off.
Do the Heresies somehow cast a decent height image, or are they “Dachshund” speakers?
